IC Catholic Prep, founded in 1936 by Monsignor William Plunkett, is a Catholic, co-educational, college preparatory high school committed to educating the whole person in spirit, mind, and body. Rooted in our Catholic identity and inspired by Mary, the Immaculate Conception, ICCP challenges students to learn, lead, and serve with integrity. As the oldest co-educational Catholic high school in DuPage County and the only parish high school in the Diocese of Joliet, ICCP provides a rigorous and inclusive academic and extracurricular experience for all students.


Position Summary
IC Catholic Prep seeks a mission-driven, strategic, and highly organized Athletic Director to lead, strengthen, and grow our high school athletic program. The ideal candidate will provide equitable, non-biased leadership across all sports; foster a faith-centered, competitive, student-first athletic culture; and navigate the complexities of the Chicago Catholic League (CCL), East Suburban Catholic Conference (ESCC), and IHSA.
This is a pivotal leadership position at a key moment for ICCP. The next Athletic Director must be both a program builder and a culture carrier, capable of elevating athletic operations, supporting coaches, driving enrollment impact, and stewarding the long-term health and reputation of athletics at IC Catholic Prep.


Key Responsibilities


1. Program Leadership & Oversight

  • Provide fair, consistent, and unbiased leadership across all sports and levels.
  • Ensure alignment between athletics and ICCP's mission, values, faith identity, and expectations for student-athletes.
  • Build and sustain a competitive, disciplined, student-focused athletic culture.
  • Complete annual evaluations of the overall athletic program and communicate needs to the Principal.
  • Establish and enforce athletic program policies that align with school, IHSA, and conference standards.

 
2. Recruiting, Enrollment & Program Growth

  • Partner with Admissions and Marketing to support enrollment, visibility, and outreach efforts.
  • Develop programming that engages feeder schools, alumni, families, and community partners.
  • Collaborate with coaches on public relations, recruiting plans, and grammar school camps.
  • Act as an ambassador of ICCP in the broader athletic community.
  • Collaborate with the President regarding athletic fundraising, donations, and long-term program investment.

3. Conference, League & IHSA Collaboration

  • Represent ICCP with professionalism within the CCL, ESCC/GCAC, and IHSA.
  • Understand conference structures, scheduling, seeding, governance, and parity expectations.
  • Serve as the Principal's official representative to the IHSA, CCL, and applicable conferences.
  • Ensure compliance with all IHSA rules, policies, eligibility requirements, and reporting.
  • Complete and manage transfer paperwork, eligibility documentation, and related compliance materials.

4. Operations, Events & Game Management

  • Oversee all athletic scheduling (games, practices, tournaments) and coordinate facility usage.
  • Ensure proper supervision and presence at athletic contests; attend as many contests as possible.
  • Coordinate all athletic transportation needs.
  • Secure and manage officials through Arbiter; handle cancellations due to weather or changes.
  • Plan and execute major athletic events, including senior nights, tournaments, banquets, recognition ceremonies, and awards programs.
  • Maintain efficient financial record-keeping, reporting systems, and compliance documentation.

5. Facilities, Equipment & Safety

  • Oversee the care, maintenance, and improvement of all athletic facilities, including:
    • Plunkett Field Athletic Complex
    • IC Gym
    • Weight Room
    • Locker rooms, storage spaces, and equipment areas
  • Conduct annual inventory of all athletic uniforms and equipment.
  • Make recommendations for facility improvement, safety upgrades, and long-term capital planning.
  • Ensure safe, well-run, well-officiated athletic experiences for all participants.

 
6. Leadership, Mentorship & Talent Development

  • Directly supervise two Assistant Athletic Directors.
  • Recruit, hire, supervise, mentor, and evaluate all head coaches; ensure proper oversight of assistant coaches.
  • Conduct pre-season and post-season coach meetings.
  • Establish professional development and training opportunities for coaches.
  • Support coaches in evaluation, goal-setting, accountability, communication, and recruitment strategies.
  • Model professionalism, discipline, faith-centered leadership, and composure under pressure.

7. Community Engagement & Stakeholder Communication

  • Maintain clear, timely communication with students, families, coaches, staff, and school leadership.
  • Attend monthly Athletic Booster Club meetings and collaborate on community priorities.
  • Maintain strong collaboration with ICGS (grade school) Athletic Director.
  • Serve as a visible, approachable leader at school events, games, and community functions.

Qualifications
Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Sports Administration, or related field.
  • Demonstrated experience in athletic administration, teaching, and/or coaching (3–5 years).
  • Strong organizational, operational, communication, and event management skills.
  • Understanding and support of the mission, traditions, and values of IC Catholic Prep.

Preferred:

  • Master's degree in Education or Administration.
  • Type 75 Administrative Certificate or PEL Administrative Endorsement.
  • Experience working within CCL, ESCC/GCAC, or similar high-level conferences.
  • Proven experience running multi-sport programs, managing facilities, or growing enrollment/community engagement.

Salary and Benefits

  • Salary range $70 - $76k depending on experience and degree
  • Eligible for benefits which include medical, dental, vision, 403b plan with employer contribution up to the 3%
