Description

Title of Vacancy:  Substitute Teachers for Extended Day 21st Century Community Learning Centers (21st CCLC)

Position Type: Professional/Teacher

**Positions filled on an "as need" basis

Location: Pocahontas County Schools - as needed for Pocahontas County High School, Green Bank Elementary-Middle School, Marlinton Middle School

Qualifications: Meet minimum Standards for Certification as set forth by the West Virginia Board of Education Policy 5202 in Minimum Requirements for the Licensure of Professional Personnel and the qualification as outlined in West Virginia §18A-4-7a

 Valid West Virginia Teaching Certificate or WV Substitute Teaching Permit
Criminal background check conducted pursuant to WV Code §18-5-15c and/or §18A-3-10
Experience in working with secondary-level programs and students, preferred.

Immediate Supervisor: District and Site Coordinators for 21st CCLC

Program Overview:

The 21st Century Community Learning Centers (21st CCLC) are designed to support and extend learning opportunities for K-12 students beyond the regular instructional day. The program will provide academic enrichment opportunities for students to meet state and local standards in core academic subjects, enrichment activities that complement regular academic programs, and support parents/families for literacy and other educational services.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION:
The 21st Century Community Learning Centers (21st CCLC) Teacher will provide support and instruction to participating students in the program at their assigned school. The teacher will:

1) Work collaboratively and flexibly with other 21st CCLC educators to meet the program's goals
2) Ensure overall program integrity by being well-prepared, setting instructional outcomes, using resources effectively, and providing a safe and secure learning environment for all students
3) Provide personalized academic support to students by identifying their learning needs, creating customized lesson plans, and teaching subject matter to help them achieve their educational goals.
4) Use relevant data points to monitor student progress and growth, including academic, behavioral, and attendance / engagement
5) Provide academic performance/progress updates to appropriate personnel and parents / families of participating students
6) Provide opportunities for parent / family engagement to support their children's learning


Responsibilities:

Maintains a safe work environment;
Collaborates with parents, colleagues, and other school staff
Establishes and maintains high standards of behavior;
Meets students at designated time and location;
Prepares and implements lesson plans;
Coordinates activities and special events with 21st Century Site Coordinator and school staff;
Exhibits positive public relations;
Upholds school rules, policies, and procedures;
Prepares and distributes snacks as assigned;
Attends required and assigned training sessions;
Exhibits dependable work habits;
Records student attendance
Performs related duties as assigned.

Term of Employment: 
Remainder of 2025-2026 SY
Hours: 3 hours per day / Monday-Thursday after-school
Pay: $25 per hour
