QUALIFICATIONS: Must hold or be eligible for the proper Indiana certification

REPORTS TO: Principal, Head Band Director

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 183 Day contract, summer school hours for marching band, and assistant band director stipend

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Team teach (with 2 other directors) the following examples:
  • Full Concert Band (1st semester)
  • Advanced High School Concert Band (2nd semester)
  • Marching Band
  • Intermediate Level High School Concert Band (2nd semester)
  • Grades 6-8 Instrument Setting Division
• Teach a wide variety of vastly different skills on different instruments simultaneously.
• Effectively manage large classes of students.Evaluate student achievement and adjust instruction accordingly
• Assist with marching band season
• Assist with all summer and after school rehearsals
• May conduct Pep Band (10 Home Basketball Games) and/orJazz Band
• Assist with planning and organizing concerts and other public performances.
• Communicating with large numbers of students and parents about expectations, schedules, attendance
• Attend and assist with all performances
• Facilitate development of the marching band show
• A specialist in brass would be ideal, but not required.
• Work with a well-established band booster organization.
• Organize and maintain a large inventory of equipment.
• Other duties as assigned.
