POSITION: STUDENT ASSISTANCE COORDINATOR
START DATE: JANUARY 2026
HIGH SCHOOL
RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Understanding of State testing regulations and protocols
2. Understanding of Student Crisis protocols
3. Experience working in the field of substance use
4. Understanding of "Reasonable Cause to Suspect" procedures
5. Knowledge of suicide prevention responsibility
6. Knowledge and understanding of Risk Assement and Behavioral Threat Assessment,
and Management
7. Experience working with secondary students regarding Awareness, Prevention and
Intervention
8. Coordinates a referral system and crisis intervention services for early identification of
students who are at-risk for substance abuse, demonstrating symptoms of substance
use and abuse, or in need of crisis intervention services.
9. Work in cooperation with resources available within the school district (i.e. child study
team, guidance counselors, nurses, etc.).
10. Coordinates a referral system with local, state, and other services, providers, or agencies
related to substance abuse and crisis intervention support.
11. Maintains the confidentiality of related records with general reports reviewed with the
High School Principal and provided to the Superintendent of Schools at appropriate intervals.
12. Performs other job-related duties as may from time to time be assigned by the High School
and Superintendent of Schools.
QUALIFICATIONS: New Jersey Student Assistance Coordinato or Substance Awareness Coordinator Certification
Required. New Jersey School Counselor or Social Worker Certification Preferred
PAY SCALE: BA/1-3 ($59,710.00) - MA+60/19 ($116,710.00)
