Primary Purpose:
- In support of the district’s educational mission, the Facility Services Operations Manager is responsible for the effective leadership, direction, administration and management of the Facilities Services Department operational functions
Education/Certification:
- Bachelor’s degree in a business or technical discipline (or equivalent experience of a minimum of five to seven years in maintenance supervision)
- Valid Texas Driver’s license
- Driving record that is insurable with PISD insurance carrier
- Knowledge of the principles and practices of building construction and maintenance trades
- Budget administration
- Knowledge of bid, quote and award procedures
- Appropriate safety precautions and procedures
- Knowledge of applicable laws, rules, regulations and/or policies and procedures
- Ability to implement, schedule and supervise the work of employees of several trades which are responsible for equipment and facility repair and maintenance
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
- Ability to speak clearly, concisely and effectively, and to listen to and understand information and ideas as presented in writing
- Ability to interact with people in a manner which shows sensitivity, tact and professionalism
- Ability to make a decision or solve a problem by using logic to identify key facts, explore alternatives, and propose quality solutions
- Ability to direct others and lead the organization to accomplish established goals and objectives
- Ability to conduct on-site inspections of all maintenance facilities and construction projects
- Ability to manage simultaneous assignments with close attention to schedules and deadlines
- Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others
- Five or more years of experience in leadership positions in large service organizations
- Analyze, develop, revise and improve upon programs, methods and procedures
- Direct cluster services operations on a daily basis
- Communicate and coordinate with school and District administrative personnel and staff to assure smooth and timely delivery of scheduled services
- Perform site inspections and visits; identify maintenance service needs and assign to appropriate trade; oversee contractor work to assure compliance; attend pre-bid meetings
- Train and evaluate the performance of assigned staff
- Implement approved programs and service of District-wide maintenance and operations programs or services; organize and supervise the work of staff involved in the Facilities Maintenance Operations
- Make recommendations for new and modified programs, policies, regulations and procedures for approval
- Conduct periodic inspections of schools and facilities for needed repairs
- Establish cluster goals and objectives; monitors and measures progress on an on-going basis
- Direct activities to ensure compliance with appropriate local, state, and federal regulations as they pertain to facilities
- Encourage and practice cooperation with other departments within the cluster
- Develop and manage the cluster budget to ensure proper allocation and expenditure of resources
- Participate in the development of emergency preparedness plans
- Follow all rules, regulations, and policies of Plano ISD and follow directives from supervisor
- Follow attendance policy as assigned by the supervisor
- Perform other functions that may be assigned by the Administration and/or supervisor
