Position Overview

Greenville ISD is seeking reliable and flexible Substitute Teachers to provide classroom supervision and instructional support in the absence of the regular classroom teacher. Substitute Teachers play a vital role in maintaining continuity of learning and a safe, positive classroom environment.

Primary Purpose

Implement instructional plans, maintain classroom management, and ensure student safety in accordance with Texas Education Agency (TEA) requirements, district policies, and campus procedures.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required
• Valid Texas teaching certificate preferred but not required
• Ability to work with students of varying ages and ability levels
• Ability to follow written lesson plans and campus procedures
• Must meet all district background check requirements

Daily Pay Rates

• $90 per day – Qualified Substitute (Associate's degree or less)
• $110 per day – Degreed Substitute (Bachelor's degree or higher)
• $120 per day – Certified Teacher
• $120 per day – Substitute Nurse
• $150 per day – Retired Teacher

Special Knowledge / Skills

• Strong classroom management and organizational skills
• Ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, and administrators
• Flexibility and adaptability in a variety of classroom settings
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism

Major Responsibilities and Duties

Classroom Instruction & Management

• Follow lesson plans provided by the classroom teacher
• Maintain an orderly and productive classroom environment
• Support student learning and engagement throughout the school day
• Ensure student safety at all times

Supervision & Campus Support

• Supervise students during class time, transitions, lunch, and recess as assigned
• Enforce campus rules and district policies

Professional Responsibilities

• Communicate student concerns or incidents to campus administration
• Leave feedback for the regular teacher regarding the day's activities
• Perform other duties as assigned by campus administration

• Frequent standing, walking, and classroom movement

• Ability to manage classroom behavior and maintain emotional control
