PURPOSE OF THE POSITION: This position supports student success by addressing barriers to attendance through direct family engagement, home visits, and coordination of community-based resources. It ensures compliance with district and state requirements while providing restorative support, referrals, and documentation to improve attendance and reengage students.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. In addition to the requirements listed below, regular attendance is an essential function of this position.

 

  1. Ensures that all actions are in concert with the Board policies as well as the mission statement, beliefs, objectives and parameters found in the Board's strategic plan.
  2. Participates in job training and professional growth opportunities in order to enhance ability to perform the essential functions of the job.
  3. Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring an efficient and effective work environment.
  4. Uses attendance data to identify students with patterns of concern and develops individualized support plans, maintaining thorough and accurate documentation of all student and family contacts, interventions, referrals, and progress updates.
  5. Conducts home visits and family meetings to address barriers, reengage students, and provides wraparound support.
  6. Connects students and families with community-based resources and monitors the effectiveness of these supports.
  7. Assists families with initial court referrals, attends hearings with the Regional Office of Education when required, and provides case documentation as requested.
  8. Coordinates with school staff to ensure accurate use of attendance codes and compliance with district and state guidelines.
  9. Initiates and follows up on referrals to the Regional Office of Education and other agencies to ensure ongoing support, accountability, and legal interventions when required.
  10. Provides regular updates and reports on caseload progress to support TAEOP grant compliance and evaluation.
  11. Engages families using a supportive and restorative approach to encourage positive attendance habits and solve challenges.
  12. Collaborates with school MTSS teams, attendance teams, and other relevant school staff to analyze attendance patterns and develop interventions to address chronic truancy. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS: High School Diploma required. Thirty (30) college credit hours in a related field preferred.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  2. Knowledge of computer applications as related to collection and inputting of data in all areas as related to attendance, school climate, and whole school activities.
  3. Knowledge of child and adolescent psychology, and ability to work with high school students.

WORK CALENDAR:10 Months (two weeks before school begins/two weeks after school is out.)

WORKING CONDITIONS:Moderate in-district travel as well as intermittent in-state and out-of-state travel.  Intermittent prolonged and irregular hours of work.

The Physical Requirements of the Position

Sedentary Work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
