Posting Description: Instructional Paraeducator
Newark Charter is seeking a dynamic, dedicated individual to provide direct support to students with disabilities at the Primary School level. The paraeducator will support student success by providing individualized and small group support with instructional, behavioral, and social emotional needs for students with disabilities across all school settings. The paraeducator is responsible for providing assistance in attainment of IEP goals and objectives as well as attainment in the core curriculum and assists in a variety of instructional and behavior-support related activities as assigned by the teacher. The paraeducator attends to individual needs of students, including, but not limited to, maintaining personal safety, supporting positive behavior and social skills, and other duties as assigned.

Terms of Employment: 10 Month Position
Salary: Commensurate with degree level and experience
Minimum Qualifications:
- Holds high school transcript or equivalency, along with one of the following:
- An associate degree or higher with a GPA of 2.0 or higher from an accredited institution, OR
- Sixty college credits from an accredited institution, OR
- A score of 459 or higher on the ParaPro Test
- Experience working with students with disabilities
- Preferred: Experience supporting students with social emotional and/or behavioral needs

- Provide direct supervision and support of students to ensure safety and support academic attainment in the core curriculum.
- Collaborate with the teacher and/or related services providers about the IEP, Behavior Support Plan, and implementation of activities and resources for students.
- Work with students in a variety of contexts, which may include an individual, small group, or whole group settings.
- Work with students in a variety of content areas, which may include math, science, English, social studies, as well as any elective.
- Assist in ongoing monitoring of students’ progress.
- Assists in the supervision and monitoring of students through assigned duties, i.e. hallways, lunchroom, and bus duty: ensures appropriate conduct during these periods.
- Willing to participate in trainings to further develop skills in supporting students’ needs.
- Maintain dignity and respect for each student at all times.
- Maintain confidentiality inside and outside the school regarding personal interactions with students, staff, and parents.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
