Substitute Special Education Support Professionals (ESP or Para)
If you are currently an active substitute with BHM Schools and your Frontline/Absence Management/AESOP profile is also active, it is not necessary to re-apply annually.
Buffalo-Hanover-Montrose School District # 877 is accepting applications for Special Education Support Professionals (ESPs) for the current school year. We are seeking dependable substitute ESP's who are available to work in the district on an on-call basis. If you are interested in substituting in this very important and rewarding position, please complete the online application found on this page. The Special Education department will review your application. Before working as a Sub ESP, you will need to complete a background check and attend an orientation. Hours of Work: The substitute ESP generally follows the school day:
Approximate Start Time: 7:45 a.m. (Elementary Schools) -or- 8:50 a.m. (Middle and High School)
Approximate Stop Time: 2:20 p.m. (Elementary Schools) -or- 3:30 p.m. (Middle and High School)
Rate of Pay: $18.00/hour (paid twice/month), this is not a benefit eligible position
Location: You could be working at any of the 9 buildings throughout the district, or you may specify building preferences during your orientation. The more flexible you are, the more hours are available for you to work.

Responsibilities:
A Special Education Support Professional substitute (ESP sub) works with special education students. Our students come with a variety of needs including but not limited to:
- Academic
- Communication
- Physical and motor
- Personal care
- Social/emotional

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must have a High School diploma. Must be comfortable with and enjoy working with students with special needs.
- Candidates with a high degree of flexibility and willingness to work in a variety of settings with a variety of children are highly preferred.
