LOCATION:  Commodore Conyers College and Career Academy

JOB SUMMARY:  The Professional Essential Skills / WBL Coordinator plays a key role in preparing students for post-secondary success by equipping them with essential professional skills and coordinating high-quality work-based learning (WBL) experiences. This position serves as a bridge between the school system, local employers, and students, promoting real-world learning opportunities that align with career pathways. The Coordinator will develop, implement, and manage programming that fosters student employability, career awareness, and readiness.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. Bachelor’s degree in the social sciences field, education or closely related field is highly desirable; Master’s degree preferred;
  2. Three years documented work experience within a professional setting;
  3. Eligible for or currently holds Georgia certification;
  4. Experience working with adults and students;
  5. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent and the Board may find appropriate.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES: 
  1. Excellent communication and organizational skills;
  2. Demonstrated ability to plan, coordinate, and deliver programming aligned to student career development;
  3. Effective collaboration skills and ability to build relationships with students, colleagues, and business/community partners;
  4. Proficient with basic computer applications and willing to learn systems related to student data and program reporting;
  5. Experience working with both students and adults in an instructional, coaching, or mentoring capacity.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Coordinate the integration of professional essential skills and work-based learning opportunities into students' academic and career pathways;
  2. Develop and maintain a robust network of business and community partners to provide job shadowing, internships, apprenticeships, and other WBL experiences;
  3. Design and implement workshops, events, and programming to enhance students’ communication, teamwork, time management, professionalism, and career readiness;
  4. Monitor student participation in WBL opportunities, maintain accurate records, and assess student progress toward employability goals;
  5. Collect and analyze student performance and participation data to drive program improvement and meet state WBL compliance requirements;
  6. Manage program logistics including budget, equipment inventorty; and supply requests;
  7. Maintain all necessary program certifications, documentation, and reports as required by the district, state, and industry standards;
  8. Serve as a resource to teachers, counselors, and administrators regarding career readiness standards and student career planning;
  9. Provide individual student advising on employability, soft skills development, and placement into appropriate WBL settings;
  10. Maintain effective classroom management and foster a positive, respectful learning environment that supports student success;
  11. Engage in ongoing professional learning and development to stay current with workforce trends and best practices in career education;
  12. Performs other such duties needed or assigned by the Supervisor.
REPORTS TO:  Principal

SALARY RANGE: Competitive salary and excellent benefits package, in accordance with the DCSS Compensation Guide
