Computer Science: DC and/or Project Lead the Way Teacher
Position Purpose
Under the general supervision of the School Administration and the Science Department Chairs, the Computer Science teacher is responsible for overseeing all Computer Science instruction. The classroom instruction will align to the Computer Science curriculum for the one semester course required for graduation starting with the class of 2029. The Computer Science teacher will also oversee the 3-year CTE Computer Science sequence. The teacher must be or willing to be trained in Project Lead The Way and/or Dual Credit certified through Indiana University.
Essential Functions
Plan and Deliver Instruction
Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that align with the Indiana state standards for Computer Science, including the required one-semester course for graduation beginning with the Class of 2029.
Deliver instruction in a variety of formats, including hands-on, project-based learning through Project Lead the Way (PLTW) and/or college-level instruction for Dual Credit (DC) students.
CTE Pathway Instruction
Teach the full 3-year Computer Science course sequence aligned to the Career and Technical Education (CTE) Computer Science pathway.
Maintain course pacing and content that prepares students for industry certifications, postsecondary opportunities, and real-world applications.
Professional Certification and Training
Maintain or obtain required credentials to teach PLTW Computer Science courses and/or hold Dual Credit certification through Indiana University or other approved institutions.
Participate in ongoing PLTW training, professional development, and collaboration with university partners as required.
Curriculum Development and Alignment
Collaborate with the Science Department Chairs, School Administrators, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment of curriculum with district, state, and postsecondary expectations.
Contribute to the refinement and continuous improvement of the Computer Science curriculum.
Attend required training and professional development for PLTW and/or Dual Credit.
Student Assessment and Progress Monitoring
Design and administer formative and summative assessments to monitor student learning and progress.
Use data to inform instruction and provide feedback to students, families, and administrators.
Technology Integration and Innovation
Utilize relevant technology tools and platforms to enhance instruction and student engagement in Computer Science.
Encourage computational thinking, coding, and digital literacy through innovative and inclusive instructional practices.
Classroom Management and Culture
Establish a positive, respectful, and productive classroom environment that promotes student engagement and success in a STEM setting.
Uphold school policies and promote a culture of responsibility, collaboration, and curiosity.
Student Support and Career Readiness
Support student exploration of Computer Science careers and connect classroom content to real-world experiences and potential pathways.
Provide academic support and mentorship to students pursuing the Computer Science CTE track.
Collaboration and Communication
Work collaboratively with colleagues, support staff, families, and industry partners to enhance student learning and expand program opportunities.
Communicate effectively with all stakeholders regarding course expectations, student progress, and program goals.
Compliance and Program Integrity
Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal guidelines for CTE and Dual Credit programming.
Maintain accurate and timely records related to student performance, certifications, and program reporting requirements.
Equipment
Uses standard office equipment such as personal computers, printer, copy and fax machines, and telephone.
Travel Requirements
Travels to school district buildings and professional meetings as required.
Pay Rates
PEA certified position.
Work Schedule
Standard teacher work schedule as set forth in the Teacher’s Contract.

License/ Registration/ Certification
Current Indiana Teacher’s License, in subject area applicable to teaching assignment
Education
Bachelors or Masters (preferred) from an accredited college or university in Computer Science or Technology Education.
Experience
Previous experience is preferred.
