Description
Job Summary: The Special Education Paraprofessional supports the academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs of students with disabilities in grades K–9 under the direction of licensed special education staff. This position involves working one-on-one or in small groups to assist students with classroom participation, skill development, and access to the curriculum in both general education and special education settings.
Key Responsibilities: ? Provide instructional and behavioral support to students as directed by the special education teacher or related service providers. ? Implement accommodations, modifications, and Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals. ? Assist with academic activities including reading, writing, math, and social skills development. ? Monitor and manage student behavior using positive behavior strategies. ? Support students during transitions, recess, lunch, transportation, or specials as needed. ? Collect data on student progress and behavior for IEP documentation and teacher planning. ? Communicate effectively with teachers, specialists, and school staff. ? Maintain confidentiality and comply with all federal, state, and school regulations. ? Assist with physical needs of students, which may include lifting, toileting, feeding, or mobility support (as required). ? Participate in professional development and team meetings
Work Environment & Physical Requirements: ? May require physical effort (e.g., lifting, standing for extended periods, assisting with mobility) ? May involve working both indoors and outdoors ? Requires the ability to respond quickly to student needs and emergencies
Compensation: $17.00 - $20.00 per hour based on experience and district guidelines.
