Paraprofessional

Must have a paraprofessional or substitute teaching licence issued by the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE)

A paraprofessional in the special education setting provides support to students with disabilities under the supervision of a licensed special education teacher.  Their role is to help students access the general education curriculum and participate in the classroom activities, often assisting with academic, behavioral, physical, and social-emotional needs.
