TITLE:     Athletic Director / Dean of Students - Portland Secondary School
QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. 092 CT, Certification or Equivalent
  2. Prior secondary experience preferred
  3. Prior experience with Athletics preferred
  4. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
 
REPORTS TO:
            High School Principal; Middle School Principal; Superintendent
 
SUPERVISES:
            All building personnel; coaches and athletic coordinators
 
JOB GOAL:
            To assist the principal(s) in providing school wide leadership
 
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Assists the secondary school leadership team with the overall administration of Portland Middle School and Portland High School.
  2. Provides direct oversight of athletic programming, including selection and evaluation of coaches, professional development of coaches, scheduling, transportation, compliance with CIAC, CSDE, and local policy guidelines, budgeting, management of facilities, allocation of resources and materials, site supervision of practices and games, and all other aspects of athletic programming.
  3. Assists the secondary school leadership team with the articulation of expectations in the student handbooks and codes of conduct
  4. Collaborates with the building principals to manage student conduct.
  5. Facilitates professional learning and staff development in the areas of student management, school climate and restorative practices.
  6. Serves as the principal in the absence of the regular principals as needed.
  7. Collaborates with building principals, school security guard(s), Portland Police, and faculty and staff to create a safe environment by overseeing school security drills, safe school plans, all-hazards plan, and all other school safety protocols
  8. Assists with the coordination of transportation, custodial, cafeteria, and other support services.
  9. Collaborates with building principals, faculty, staff and students to create a positive school climate.
  10. Oversees general building organization, usage, and maintenance functions.
  11. Supervises and evaluates all athletic staff as assigned by the superintendent.
  12. Plans and supervises special events held to recognize student achievement, school-sponsored activities, and athletic events.
  13. Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as the principal may assign.
 
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
            Teacher school year plus 10 additional days
            Salary Range: $111,771.59 - $117,654.31
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel.
