POSITION SUMMARY:
Lake Washington School District is seeking a certificated educator with teaching and/or dean experience to join the Department of Student Excellence and Engagement as a Student Excellence and Engagement Specialist (TOSA) in the 2025-2026 school year. Your primary focus will be on collaborating with student excellence and engagement teams, implementing restorative behavioral, academic, social emotional learning, and attendance practices within a Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) framework, intentionally integrating academic and behavioral practices. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Current Washington State teaching or ESA certificate
  • Three years of successful, student-centered classroom teaching experience and strong ideas for and/or experience implementing innovative technology solutions in the classroom
  • Commitment to the vision, goals, and philosophy of the Lake Washington School District
  • Proficiency in the use of the Microsoft Office Suite and educational technology tools

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • Collaborate closely with student excellence and engagement teams to ensure seamless alignment between district initiatives and discipline policies, proactive and preventative practices, and student interventions.
  • Lead the implementation of restorative practices throughout the district, fostering a positive and inclusive school climate built on healthy relationships and conflict resolution.
  • Utilize your knowledge of MTSS (academic and behavior) to inform decision-making and provide guidance to school teams on effective prevention-based interventions and supports for students.
  • Facilitating assessments and evaluations to measure the effectiveness of programs and services that support student social, emotional, and behavioral wellbeing.
  • Work collaboratively with student excellence and engagement personnel to analyze comprehensive student data, including disciplinary incidents, identifying patterns, trends, and areas for improvement.
  • Assist in the development of data-driven strategies and interventions that address student behavior proactively while promoting positive social-emotional and academic development.
  • Coordinate with student excellence and engagement teams to provide professional development and support in implementing evidence-based practices to promote student social-emotional growth.
  • Support the development and implementation of district-wide policies and practices that promote equity, inclusivity, and cultural responsiveness within our student excellence and engagement pathways and programs.
  • Collaborate closely with district leadership to ensure effective communication and coordination between student excellence and engagement, principals, teachers, deans and other departments and programs.
  • Leverage experience with behavioral support, intervention expertise (behavioral, academic, social emotional, attendance) to work within complex scenarios that can lead to conflict.
  • Demonstrated commitment to equity with the ability to effectively and collaboratively work with diverse populations
  • Demonstrated commitment to in-depth collaboration for whole team/program success
    DESIRABLE CRITERIA:
  • Extensive knowledge of and experience with culturally responsive learning environments, Restorative Practices, and/or Social Emotional Learning.
  • Secondary instructional experience.
  • Teacher leadership experience includes planning, leading, implementing, and sustaining long-term projects and related professional learning
  • Training and/or experience in facilitating adult learning
  • Knowledge of effective instructional practices and ability to directly support others in improving instructional practice
  • Ability to integrate and support integration of intervention and special education supports as related to providing multi-tiered systems of support in a school and district context
  • Ability to work with and lead a diverse group of adults for the purposes of promoting curriculum, instruction, assessment and technology integration and implementation
  • Demonstrated ability to learn and integrate new technology
  • Demonstrated commitment to equity through culturally relevant teaching practices and design and implementation of instruction and high expectations for all students
  • Implementation of effective instructional strategies and learning theory in diverse settings
  • Clearly articulates ideas verbally and in writing

Salary:
Paid per teacher salary schedule with Base contract plus additional contracts for LEAP days, and Responsibility. Additional Technology stipend and Professional Fund. See LWEA salary schedule posted on website. Full benefit package available for employees working a minimum of 630 hours during the school year.
