Description

Job Description:       
Responsible for the organization and instruction of the St. Anthony Village High School boys JV soccer team.  Responsible for setting up games, practices, and supervision of the athletes in the program.  Must be able to adjust work schedule for games and practice.  Coach is responsible for care and maintenance of equipment. Assists in game and facility scheduling, coordinating team transportation, communicates with parents, and arranges game helpers as needed.  In addition, responsible for other duties outlined in the coaches handbook and as assigned.

Qualifications:

Preferred credentials:

  1. Valid Minnesota coaching certificate or
  2. NFICEP Certified / MSHSL Coaches Educ. Program or
  3. Fulfills the following criteria:
    • In the judgment of the school board, the person has the knowledge and experience necessary to coach the sport; and
    • Can verify completion of six quarter credits, or the equivalent, or 60 clock hours of instruction in first aid and the care and prevention of athletic injuries; and
    • Can verify completion of a coaching methods or theory course.
  4. Ability to organize and supervise a complete soccer program.
  5. Substantial knowledge of the technical and tactical aspects of soccer.
Job Description:
  • Purpose: Coaches from his / her purpose and purpose statement is widely communicated.   
  • Goals versus Purpose: Is able to articulate and clearly distinguish between personal and program goals versus purpose.  Executes goals which support purpose.
  • The Four Questions:  Is able to articulate: a. Why you coach, b. Why you coach the way you do, C. How does it feel to be coached by you, and D. How do you define success?
  • 3D Coaching: Coaches in all dimensions – fundamentals, psychology, and heart.
  • Student experience: Coaches to capture the HEART of participants while building meaningful relationships.
  • Service work: Program completes a meaningful annual service project.
  • Character lessons: Captures teachable moments.  Program completes weekly character education lessons in a meaningful and memorable way.
  • Team Player: Works cooperatively with other programs and staff, supports other activities, and willingly shares facilities and participants.
  • Professional development: Attends staff meetings and staff professional development opportunities; participates in department book club gatherings.
  • Coach as a Manager: Meets communication / management duties of the employee handbook. 
  • Health and Safety: Prioritizes athlete health and safety, physically, emotionally, and mentally.

Salary Range: $3,000-4,000 depending on experience and duties
