General Function:
Responsible for all aspects of network management including but not limited to backup systems, domain controllers, network switches, file servers, virtual environments, wireless networks, web content filtering, cybersecurity, desktop systems and communications hardware/software.
Education/Training/Experience:
Minimum: Five or more years of relevant experience in Information Technology/Information Systems with a minimum of two years as a network administrator.
Preferred: Associate or bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, System Administration, or a closely related field and at least five to seven years of network management experience. MCSE certification, CISSP, CCNA, or CCNP certification a plus.
Knowledge/Skills and Abilities:
Extensive knowledge of Active Directory management. Demonstrates knowledge of the configuration and the management of virtual environments. Demonstrates knowledge of systems and networking software, hardware, and networking protocols. Demonstrates knowledge in the configuration and management of wireless networks. Demonstrates knowledge of multiple operating systems including Windows Server 2012 R2 and above, Windows 10, Chrome OS, Mac OS X versions 10.11 and above. Demonstrated knowledge of Windows/Windows Server patch management solutions such as Quest KACE. Demonstrates knowledge of MS SQL Server 2012 and above. Identifies recurring hardware and software problems and recommends plans for prevention and resolution. Ensures data security and availability through proper backup and verification procedures. Demonstrates knowledge of web content filtering solutions. Demonstrates knowledge of Google, Microsoft and Adobe suites. Demonstrates knowledge of configuring remote access for users. Demonstrates knowledge of server backup solutions. Demonstrates ability to support networked printers and copiers. Demonstrates knowledge of current communications devices and protocols, server and desktop technologies. Demonstrates ability to prioritize multiple projects and tasks effectively.
Essential Job Functions:
Performs all functions in accordance with established policies, procedures, safety and environmental regulations, facility and computer security policies and procedures. Functions are subject to change from time to time to meet the needs of the organization. Current essential functions include the following:
- Responsible for the maintenance, configuration, and reliable operation of computer systems, network servers, and virtual environments.
- Installs and upgrades computer components and software, manage virtual servers, and integrates automation processes.
- Troubleshoots hardware and software errors by running diagnostics, documenting problems and resolutions, prioritizing problems, and assessing impact of issues.
- Performs regular backup operations and implements appropriate processes for data protection, disaster recovery, and failover procedures.
- Network administration (including backup, security management, user account management, e-mail systems management, internet access, office systems and applications support).
- Supports network, server and desktop hardware, software and applications.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
Salary Range:
$48,204 to $58,814+
Resources Used in Performing Job Include (but are not limited to):
Standard office equipment, including computers, tablets, apps, copiers, etc. Data communication equipment, networks and computer hardware and software. Automobile to travel to other district buildings.
Physical/Cognitive Requirements:
Able to key in coded information and instructions. Considerable manual dexterity with tools. Regularly required to stand; move throughout the room and/or facility; communicate verbally and electronically; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. Frequently required to stoop, kneel, crouch, and/or crawl. Occasionally required to sit, climb, and balance, and drive. Occasionally required to lift or exert force of up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision and the ability to adjust focus. Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and private transportation.
Environmental Conditions:
An office environment with low to moderate noise levels. Must have the ability to sit at a desk or computer for long periods. Occasional travel between schools and offices.
