Description

PRIMARY FUNCTION:  To assist the Director of Transportation in providing safe and efficient pupil transportation.

PAY GRADE:  Classified Salary Schedule - 231 Day- Grade 6 - Salary Range:  $32,009.00 to $51,365.00.  Salary placement will be based on Douglas County Board of Education approved salary shedules and years of verified service.

FLSA STATUS:  Exempt

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:  231 Days (12 Months)

REPORTS TO:  Director of Transportation

EDUCATIONAL LEVEL:  High School Diploma or GED required.  Two years of college preferred. 

EXPERIENCE:  None

CERTIFICATION/LICENSE:  Georgia CDL (P and S Endorsement) or must be obtained at first training opportunity.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:  Light Work:  Exerting up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.  If the use of arm and/or leg control requires exertion of forces greater than that of sedentary work and if the worker sits most of the time, the job is considered light work.

PROFICIENT SKILLS:  General knowledge of all office equipment.  Maintain confidentiality of all records.  Ability to communicate in a professional manner with students, parents, staff and community both orally and in writing.  Routing software and computer software skills.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  1. Demonstrates prompt and regular attendance.
  2. Operates computerized transportation system (EDULOG)
  3. Maintains maps, route sheets and route schedules for assigned area and ensures they are up to date and is familiar with the road network in Douglas County.
  4. Supervises and evaluates assigned bus drivers and bus monitors.
  5. Assists in maintaining ridership counts and assures that other transportation data is up to date.
  6. Assists in compiling and maintaining regular and special education transportation data.
  7. Works with drivers, local schools and the public to resolve transportation service and bus conduct related problems.
  8. Participates in in-service training to maintain and upgrade skills.
  9. Responds to emergencies as they arise and is "on call" 24 hours.
  10. Participates in accident evaluation and documentation preparation.
  11. Responsible for assuring regular and special education route coverage, assigning substitute drivers when necessary and making route adjustments to meet service demands.
  12. Maintains all student permanent records/cards.
  13. Performs other duties assigned by the Director.
