Human Resources and Operations Specialist
Windsor Locks Public Schools

SUMMARY:
To assist in the administration of the Operations Department providing clerical support to the Human Resources Office; Finance Office; Curriculum Office; and the Superintendent of Schools Office. Will also serve as the district Courier, driving to schools to pick up and deliver mail.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES, FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Composes, sends and receives letters, memos and emails.
- Compiles materials for career fairs, new hires, etc.
- Performs general administrative duties using a computer, telephone, photocopying, faxing, and filing.
- Maintains new employee packets, forms and provides assistance with completion.
- Facilitates/assists with various meeting and program preparations.
- Assists with data management through the State Department of Education database.
- Phones candidates and sets up interview schedules.
- Assists with processing of new and existing employees.
- Assists with the planning and execution of New Employee Orientation.
- Assists with the set up and maintenance of files.
- Assists with and monitors Frontline applicant tracking and employee absence management system.
- Maintains and monitors records.
- Performs general communications for the various departments.
- Assists with the preparation of reports and department related requirements.
- Provides information and assistance to teachers, administrators and others, as needed.
- Assists with staff recognition activities.
- Facilitates/assists with various meeting and program preparations for the Superintendent and Board of Education.
- Assists in preparing materials for printing and distribution to the community on behalf of the Superintendent and Board of Education.
- Assists in assembling the Board of Education Meeting and Budget Packets
- Performs receptionist duties as assigned.
- Substitutes for operational staff as needed.
- Performs special projects or other duties as assigned by the Executive Director of Operations.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
- To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
- Confidentiality of information is required
- Excellent computer and technology skills required
- Must have the ability to interact professionally with a wide variety of customers
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
High School diploma a minimum. Associates degree preferred. Human Resources and/or Finance experience preferred.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before the public. Ability to utilize proper telephone etiquette. Multilingual (Spanish) preferred.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to understand the integrity and confidentiality of certain matters pertaining to the work of the system.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Ability to operate a personal computer, related software, and other office equipment. Must have knowledge of Google, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, etc. Ability to develop effective working relationships with students, staff and the school community. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.
Working Conditions: $23.58/hr. to $27.16/hr. DOE -- Competitive benefits per Administrative Assistants contract. Position is 12 months; 7 hours a day.
