Secondary MTSS Facilitator
POSITION
Livonia Public Schools is seeking to hire a Secondary MTSS Facilitator to support the implementation of Tier 1 supports, Tier 2 interventions, Tier 3 intensive interventions, reading instruction, and writing instruction at our secondary schools. The role of this position will be to provide leadership in the area of student support using the MTSS framework. The focus will be on creating, implementing, and refining the systemic and systematic processes that support academic, behavioral, and social-emotional learning for all secondary students, building on the current processes offered at our elementary schools. The position will report to the Secondary Coordinator of District Innovations, the Chief Academic Officer, and will work collaboratively with Academic and Student Services, as well as fellow MTSS Facilitator team members.
DISTRICT OVERVIEW
Livonia Public Schools employs approximately 1,800 staff members, serving approximately 13,200 students pre-K – post secondary. There are 15 elementary schools, 3 middle schools, 3 high schools, 1 career technical center, 1 early childhood center and 1 vocational and transition center in the School District. The annual budget for Livonia Public Schools is $176 million, with a state funding of $9,600 per pupil.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
The following is a list of minimum qualifications for this position, any one of which may be waived by the Administration in exercising its prerogative to determine qualifications:
- Master’s degree in the area of language arts, reading, or a related field of study preferred
- Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate
- A minimum of five years of successful teaching experience at the secondary level
- A passionate commitment to improving learning for all students
- Leadership experience and the ability to apply staff development practices
- Demonstrated positive interpersonal relationships
- Skills in individualizing instruction
- Evidence of ability to establish positive working relationships with all stakeholders
- Superior verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills
- Previous experience with adult learners is preferred
MAJOR FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist in the continued development of a district-wide MTSS process through professional development and the study of best practices
- Establish a deep understanding of the MTSS process and Tier 1 supports for all secondary staff
- Partner with building administration to ensure consistent implementation of Tier 1 supports at the secondary level
- Use multiple data points to determine students’ strengths and areas of instructional need
- Assist classroom teachers with appropriate reading and writing strategies to meet the needs of students
- Provide professional learning opportunities for teachers and administrators to refine the understanding and use of research-based interventions
- Assist staff in using formative and summative data to create and plan interventions for struggling students
- Collaborate with and support building PLTs
- Work collaboratively with the Secondary MTSS team
- Perform other tasks and assume other responsibilities as assigned
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
The work year, salary, and fringe benefits will be consistent with the current agreement between the Board of Education and the Livonia Education Association. The position will remain open until filled.
