Position: High School Counselor for 2025-2026 School Year
Location: Mount View High School, Thorndike, ME
About the School:
Mount View High School is a rural public school serving around 300 students in grades 9–12. As part of RSU #3, we are committed to fostering a student-centered learning environment focused on academic growth, personal development, and career readiness. Our counseling department plays a critical role in supporting the social-emotional well-being, academic success, and post-secondary planning for all students.
Position Summary:
Mount View High School is seeking a dynamic, compassionate, and dedicated School Counselor to join our student services team. The ideal candidate will collaborate with students, families, teachers, and Waldo County Technical Center, and administrators to support student achievement, promote a positive school climate, and guide students through academic, social-emotional, and college/career development.
Responsibilities Include:
Provide individual and group counseling for students in academic, social/emotional, and college/career areas
Develop and implement school-wide counseling programs aligned with the ASCA National Model
Collaborate with administration, teachers, and families to address student needs
Support 504 and IEP meetings
Assist with student scheduling, transitions, and course planning
Monitor student progress and help manage at-risk interventions
Support college application processes, FAFSA completion, and scholarship opportunities
Lead initiatives related to attendance, truancy prevention, and behavioral supports
Utilize Infinite Campus and other platforms to track and report student data
Dual enrollment and early college application experience
Uphold confidentiality and ethical standards in all aspects of student services
Qualifications:
Valid Maine certification (075: School Counselor)
Master’s degree in School Counseling
Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
Experience with Infinite Campus preferred
Knowledge of trauma-informed practices, restorative approaches, MTSS, PBIS, and RTI are preferred
CHRC (criminal records history check) required or ability to obtain
