Credit Recovery Program Specialist (0.5 Leave Replacement) - Intervention Program
Description
The Secondary Interventions department is looking for qualified candidates for a 0.5 Credit Recovery Program Specialist leave position for the 2025-2026 school year. This is a one-year only position which will also support the summer credit recovery program for the 2025-2026 school year as part of their extra day responsibility. Applicants will be selected and contacted for interviews by the hiring department.
Position Summary:
The Credit Recovery Program Specialist is responsible for overseeing and implementing credit recovery programs to help students meet graduation requirements. This role involves coordinating with teachers, counselors, and administrators to identify students in need of credit recovery, developing individualized plans, and monitoring student progress to ensure successful completion of coursework. This position will also work with the online course program utilized by LWSD for credit recovery, to train and support teachers and administrators. They will serve as the point of connection for technical support and will communicate with all stakeholders to maintain a streamlined process for all. This person is committed to helping create and maintain quality systems for High Schools and the Credit Recovery program in the Lake Washington School District. This individual enjoys working in a collaborative environment and looks for opportunities to expand their capabilities to support credit recovery efforts for students, to support credit recovery programs and teachers, and to support high-quality standards, curriculum, and instruction for students.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and manage the credit recovery program for the district.
- Support schools to identify students who are in need of credit recovery and develop individualized plans, as needed.
- Collaborate with teachers, counselors, and administrators to support student success.
- Monitor student progress and provide regular updates to stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with district and state policies regarding credit recovery.
- Maintain accurate records of student participation and outcomes.
- Provide training and support to staff involved in the credit recovery program.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of the program and recommend improvements.
- Support the summer credit recovery program.
- Provide support in the use of the Apex learning platform and escalate technical issues to the appropriate departments.
- Current Washington State teaching certificate
- Three years of successful, student-centered secondary classroom teaching experience or secondary counselor experience, and strong ideas for and/or experience supporting students with credit recovery and graduation pathways.
- Experience with online secondary education coursework (desired)
- Commitment to and evidence of successful standards-based teaching
- Commitment to the vision, goals, and philosophy of the Lake Washington School District
- Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding students, employers and work sites
- Implementation of effective instructional strategies and learning theory in diverse settings
- Proficiency in the use of the Microsoft Office Suite and educational technology tools

Salary: Paid per teacher salary schedule, plus 21 extra days and 1 stipend with Base contract plus additional contracts for LEAP days, and Responsibility. Additional Technology stipend and Professional Fund. See LWEA salary schedule posted on website. Full benefit package available for employees working a minimum of 630 hours during the school year.
