Holland Public Schools, located in Holland Michigan. The district has four elementary schools, one middle school and one high school and has an enrollment of approximately 3000 students.  We offer a dual language immersion program in Spanish in grades K-8.  Holland Public Schools has a diverse student population with approximately 47% Latinx, 9% Black, 6% Mulitracial, 3 % Asian and 35% White and approximately 64% free and reduced lunch.

Effective Date:   August 2025

Position Purpose 
Serve as lead teacher for the OAISD county DHH preschool program.  Oversee DHH programming for students aged 3-5 years who demonstrate different degrees of hearing loss.  Program combines language and ASL to promote overall communication strategies that support learning.  This teacher role works with other districts throughout the county and OAISD teacher consultation team to identify and offer programming for students in need. 

This teacher role may include 3-4 weeks of ESY (Extended School Year) programming during summer break between June and August. Early childhood certification preferred. 

Essential Functions 
To provide structure and innovative instruction to students within the learning environment in order to meet all student's needs.  The work includes the use of evidence-based assessment, instruction and intervention practices in the prevention, assessment, intervention and program design efforts that are integrated within the school. The teacher will work collaboratively with all members of the school and program to provide specially designed instruction in the areas determined by each student's Individualized Education Program (IEP).

Qualifications
  • Minimum - Bachelor's Degree from an approved college or university.
  • Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with an SL (Deaf and Hard of Hearing) endorsement.  A ZA (Early Childhood) endorsement is preferred.
  • Demonstrated success in special education or support service working wtih students with D/HH.
  • Experience in delivering instruction in subject area content. 
  • Ability to integrate technology into the curriculum.
  • Ability to communicate informational ideas in spoken, written and American Sign Language for clear understanding. 
  • Responsible for lesson planning for academics, social emotional, adaptive, and behavioral needs. 
  • Willingness to participate in all phases of the instructional program. 
  • Non-Violent Crisis Intervention certification preferred, not required. 
  • CPI training required, or an understanding that certification or recertification is required. 
  • Demonstrates a strong commitment to equity, social justice and inclusion in all practices and position responsibilities. 
  • Demonstrates the ability to examine the impact of education inequities in student achievement outcomes as it aligns with race, ethnicity, and social economic status.
  • Ability to work well with students, staff and parents. 
  • Ability to demonstrate mature judgment and moral and ethical behavior.
  • Abilty to project a positive outlook, manner and appearance.
  • Must meet the requirements of School Safety Legislation - Complete FBI fingerprints required. 

Equipment
Uses standard office equipment such as personal computers, printer, copy and fax machines, and telephone. 

Travel Requirements 
Travels to school district buildings and professional meetings as required. 

 Compensation and Work Year:   
In accordance with the Board of Education/HEA Contract.
