POSITION: Instructional Coach
LOCATION: Robert A. Cross Middle Magnet School
JOB SUMMARY:
The Dougherty County School System is seeking an instructional coach to join our roster of experienced, motivated, and effective teaching professionals. The Instructional Coach plays a pivotal role in fostering professional growth and development among educators within the district. Through personalized coaching, collaborative planning, modeling lessons in classrooms and ongoing professional development, the coach will empower educators to excel in their roles and create an engaging and impactful learning environment. The Instructional Coach will work with the classroom teachers in assisting with the full implementation and monitoring of all district’s adopted programs and curriculum. The Instructional Coach will also work with administrators and teachers to collect and analyze data, interpret, and use it to guide instructional decisions.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Hold a Master’s Degree or higher in curriculum and instruction is preferred;
- A minimum of five (5) years of successful teaching experience and certification at the specific grade level is required;
- Knowledge of the design and implementation of lesson plans for students;
- Strong knowledge of best practices in instruction;
- Understanding the characteristics of learners;
- Knowledge of the processes of successful coaching;
- Successful experience in working collegially with teachers;
- Successful experience as a staff developer is desirable;
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent and the Board may find appropriate.

- Ability to provide remediation appropriate with program standards to impact student learning progress and development with a wide range of achievement levels;
- Ability to use the latest technical technology in education;
- Excellent communication and organizational skills;
- Ability to communicate, problem-solve, manage conflict, and collaborate effectively;
- Ability to share research-based instructional approaches with teachers and administrators;
- Ability to train teachers in utilizing measures of achievement like universal screeners to diagnose and remediate students.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Promoting Student Academic Achievement
- Increases student academic performance through effective instructional strategies.
Modeling and Implementing Best Practices
- Teaches and facilitates research-based instructional methods schoolwide.
Assessing Student Achievement and Placement
- Evaluates student performance to support appropriate intervention and placement.
Recommending Instructional Materials and Assessments
- Identifies and suggests resources aligned with district instructional goals.
Facilitating Instructional Change
- Guides teachers in refining practices to better diagnose, plan, and teach.
Using Data to Improve Instruction
- Trains staff in data analysis to inform instructional improvement and raise achievement.
Collaborative Development of Best Practices
- Works with teachers to design strategies for sustained student growth.
Providing Professional Development
- Delivers training on effective instructional techniques across all subjects.
- Enhances collaboration among administrators, teachers, parents, and stakeholders.
Classroom Observation and Feedback
- Observes teaching and provides actionable feedback to improve learning environments.
Supporting Differentiation and Inclusion
- Offers strategies to address diverse learner needs through integration and differentiation.
- Engages in professional learning communities to strengthen instructional expertise.
Utilizing Instructional Technology
- Demonstrates effective use of technology to support and expand instruction.
Contributing to School-Wide Achievement Goals
- Performs additional duties that support overall student academic success as directed by leadership.
WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to lift and carry teaching materials, books, or small classroom equipment (typically up to 25 lbs);
- Ability to prepare and manipulate learning materials;
- Ability to stand and actively move around the classroom for extended periods;
- Ability to move between classrooms, hallways, and other school areas as needed;
- Ability to respond quickly in case of emergencies, such as evacuating students or assisting during drills;
- Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

SALARY RANGE: Competitive salary and excellent benefits package, in accordance with the DCSS Compensation Guide
