Position Title: Assistant Athletic Director/ PE Curriculum (Grades EC-12)
Position Type:  Annual $65,000.00 / Exempt
Position Hours: Full-time; Monday – Saturday
Reports to: District Athletic Director -
Length of Term/Employment: At-will / 220 workdays
 
Position Mission: Work closely with the PE Teachers, Sport Coaches, Athletic Coordinators  and the Campus Administrators to ensure a vibrant extracurricular athletic activity program is properly managed at the campus for primary and secondary students. The Assistant Athletic Director will effectively integrate the methodology associated with the Jubilee Academies General Physical Preparedness Curriculum.
 
Position Minimum Qualifications:
Education/Certification:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education, Exercise Science, Sport Management, or related field required. Preferred: Masters Degree  - 3 years as a Head High School Coach.
Special Knowledge/Skills:
  • Coaching Experience
  • Demonstrate competency in their core academic subject area.
  • Leadership and Sports Administrative Experience
  • Excellent Communication Skills (verbal and written).
Job Duties & Responsibilities - Assist the Athletic Director
  • Plan and implement campus sporting events.
  • Assist as needed to serve as campus Point of Contact for all leagues and campus athletic events.
  • Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of the school curriculum program and show written evidence of preparation as required and implement district wide.
  • Prepare an emergency lesson plan folder to cover 2 days of material.
  • Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for differences in student learning styles.
  • Present subject matter according to guidelines established by the Texas Education Agency, board policies, and administrative regulations.

  • Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and  equipment that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of students.
  • Conduct assessment of student learning styles and use results to plan instructional  activities.

  • Assist as needed to organize and host tryouts for grade level teams.
  • Establish and manage schedules of practice times and schedules for all teams for each sport.
  • Ensure the calendar is posted on campus website and disseminated to parents after principal reviews and approves the calendar in a timely manner.
  • Ensure campus operations managers  have the calendar.
  • Plan & organize coaches meetings to cover topics to include but not limited to:
    • Training
    • League Rules/Compliance Requirements;
    • Team Schedules
    • Athlete accountability on attendance, discipline and grades

  • As needed serve as the administrator in charge during games or assign personnel to serve as game administrators. Schedule and coordinate all events at gyms and fields.

  • Communicate with parents concerning their inquiries pertaining to the athletic program.
  • Ensure all student athletes are offered student accident insurance and maintain declination records.
  • Ensure all student athletes have a current physical to participate in any sports.
  • Interview coaches for extracurricular coaching duties and making hiring recommendations to Campus Principal.
  • Disseminate and maintain concussion and sports physical documentation.
  • Work with campus administrative teams, coaches, and teachers to ensure eligibility requirements (attendance, behavior and grades) are met by student-athletes.
  • Obtain campus administrator/Regional Athletic Director approval then submit requisitions for bus transportation to athletic events.
  • Assist as needed  for fundraising, acquiring uniforms, compliance and eligibility, scheduling team travel, and team practices and games.
  • Coordinate with Sport Coaches to provide specific sports training for athletes.
  • Assist to Coordinate with campus administrators to organize team parties and/or sports banquets.

  • Assist with the following tasks: charging at athletic events, clock / scorebook table assignment, setup and tear down of athletic equipment for competitions, scrimmages etc..
  • Demonstrate use of productive and efficient skills to increase community and parent involvement.
  • Review and track all District Inventory PE and extracurricular equipment.
  • Actively participate in student recruitment efforts.
  • Ensure all volunteers and non-school employees have a background check on file.

  • Other duties as assigned by District Personnel. 
Student Growth and Development: Assist the Athletic Director-
  • Help develop students analyze and improve study methods and habits.
  • Teach Coordinators and Coaches how students work toward self-discipline and responsibility.
  •  Assist ongoing assessment of student achievement through formal and informal  testing.
  • Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned. Sponsor outside activities  approved by District Personnel.
  • Be a positive role model for students, support the mission of the District.
  • Promote and Ensure good student discipline by being regular in attendance and on time.
 
Communication:Assist the Athletic Director-
  • Establish and maintain open communication by conducting conferences with parents,  students, coaches, coordinators  and teachers.
  • Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents, and community  members.
  • Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.
 
Professional Growth and Development:
  • Participate in district development activities to improve job-related skills.
 
Community Outreach:  Assist the Athletic Director
  • Promote sports programs with families within the community.

  • Work closely with newspaper/media personnel to promote school games and functions and oversee the reporting of scheduled games and game results.
  • Coordinate fundraising and promotional events with community organizations and businesses.
  • Develop booster clubs at campus and coordinate athletic fundraisers and banquets.
Other:
  • Adheres to the staff dress code.
  • Maintains a good working relationship with Jubilee Academies’ staff and parents.
  • Keeps Jubilee Academies Campus informed of maintenance problems.
  • Actively supports and participates in fundraising activities of Jubilee Academies.
  • Compile, maintain, and fill all reports, records, and other documents required.
  • Actively stays abreast of new developments in education.
 
Supervisory Role:
  • All extracurricular personnel and campus extracurricular team coaches (staff or volunteers) during extracurricular activities.

  • Develop and implement a safe and positive coaching culture that exemplifies student growth
