Job Summary
Regional School Unit 3 is seeking a dedicated and qualified Summer School Nurse to support our students during our four-week summer school program. RSU 3’s Summer School needs coverage for the last 2 weeks of the program. The nurse will ensure the health, safety, and well-being of students by providing direct nursing services, promoting a healthy school environment, and managing medical needs during the summer session.
Job Qualifications
Current license as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Maine.
CPR/First Aid certification (current and valid).
Maine Department of Education CHRC (Criminal History Record Check) with fingerprinting.
Experience working with children and adolescents in a school or pediatric setting is preferred.
Knowledge of current nursing practices, emergency protocols, and applicable health regulations.
Strong communication and organizational skills.
Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with educators, staff, and families.
Job Responsibilities
Provide direct care to students with acute or chronic health needs.
Administer medications and treatments in accordance with physician orders and school policies.
Maintain accurate health records, daily logs, and incident reports.
Monitor students for signs of illness or injury and respond appropriately.
Collaborate with summer school staff to support students with medical accommodations.
Ensure compliance with school health protocols and state health regulations.
Schedule: 5 hours per day, Monday-Thursday, during program dates.
