Insurance:

Retirement:
As an administrator, this position will automatically be enrolled in the Teacher Retirement Fund (TRF) through the state of Indiana, which includes a defined benefit (Pension) as well as an Annuity Savings Account (ASA).  In addition, this position is eligible to enroll in a 401(a) retirement investment plan, a 403(b) Match Program, and a tax-free post-retirement medical expense account (VEBA).

Additional Benefits:
Employees enrolled in an EVSC medical insurance plan are eligible to use our Health & Wellness Centers conveniently located within the community.  These are no-cost health clinics that provide primary care treatment, generic prescription medications (at no cost),  physicals, health screenings, and labs.  Accumulated sick leave days and personal business days will be provided under this position as well.  Additionally, EVSC employees have access to EVSC Wee Care, our employee-only early learning centers.  Wee Care provides a quality early learning experience for children as young as six weeks through age five.  

SUMMARY:  

The Director of Artificial Intelligence and Instructional Technology leads the district’s efforts to integrate artificial intelligence (AI) to enhance instructional practices and optimize educational operations. This position oversees the strategic implementation of AI tools and instructional technology, working closely with academic leaders, instructional staff, and operational departments. The Director also supervises the ICATS team to ensure ongoing professional development and support for technology integration that aligns with the district’s digital learning and AI strategy.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:     

  • Develop and lead a comprehensive vision for AI and instructional technology integration across K-12 classrooms and district operations.

  • Identify, evaluate, and oversee the implementation of AI tools that support instructional practices, curriculum development, and operational improvements.

  • Serve as the district’s thought leader and subject matter expert on AI in education, including trends, ethical use, and instructional applications.

  • Guide the integration of AI-powered and digital tools into the curriculum to support differentiation, engagement, and learning outcomes.

  • Work closely with the Academic leadership teams to align AI and instructional technology initiatives with district academic goals.

  • Lead and support the development of classroom models that incorporate generative AI, adaptive platforms, and personalized learning systems.

  • Supervise and support the ICATS team in the creation and delivery of professional development for teachers on integrating technology and AI into curriculum.

  • Design and lead professional development focused on AI literacy and effective technology integration for educators and administrators.

  • Support instructional staff in leveraging AI tools for lesson planning, assessment, feedback, and classroom efficiency.

  • Lead cross-departmental initiatives to pilot, implement, and evaluate AI tools that streamline workflows, automate routine tasks, and improve data-driven decision-making.

  • Partner with district operational leadership teams, including departments such as Human Resources, Finance, Transportation, Food Services, and Facilities to identify opportunities to apply AI solutions to improve processes and service delivery.

  • Provide training and support to operational staff in understanding and using AI-enabled systems or tools.

  • Provide guidance and leadership to school-based Technology Coordinators, ensuring alignment of their work with district-wide instructional technology and AI goals.

  • Design and facilitate regular communication and collaboration opportunities with Technology Coordinators to share updates, provide training, and gather feedback on building-level implementation for integrating AI tools and digital learning strategies.

  • Ensure AI solutions used in operations align with privacy, security, and ethical standards.

  • Establish systems for monitoring the effectiveness of AI and instructional technology initiatives on teaching and learning outcomes.

  • Collect and analyze usage data to inform continuous improvement and professional learning needs.

  • Manage program budgets, partnerships, and resources aligned to instructional technology and AI integration.

Supervises assigned staff. 

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

Master’s degree in Education, Instructional Technology, Curriculum & Instruction, Educational Leadership, or a related field is required. 

Minimum of five (5) years of successful classroom teaching experience required, preferably with expertise in digital technology solutions.

Demonstrated experience integrating technology and/or AI into classroom instruction preferred.

Strong background in designing and delivering professional development for educators preferred. 

Familiarity with AI use in operational domains is preferred. 

Experience supervising instructional or technology staff preferred. 

Excellent communication, collaboration, and leadership skills. 

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

Willingness to obtain ISTE Certified Educator certificate through the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) and completing AI in education micro-courses and AI Explorations and Their Practical Use in Schools.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  

  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  

  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from administrators, teachers, school board members, and the general public.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability, and statistical inference.  

  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.  

  • Ability to prepare, project, monitor and document funds from multiple sources.

 

REASONING ABILITY:

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.  

  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
