District Special Education Assistant
Jenison Secretarial and Paraprofessional Unit Position
Qualifications:
- Physical ability to perform CPI
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ability to independently implement complex behavior plans.
- Ability to provide behavior supports calmly and effectively.
- Ability to problem solve and adapt quickly in a changing environment.
- Work under the supervision of the supervising teacher or administrator.
- Assist in presentation of lessons.
- Assist in implementing behavior plans (ie. document behavior on point sheet).
- Assist/monitor students for morning and afternoon arrival and departure.
- Provide support and accommodations in general education classroom and specials as specified in the IEP.
- Assist students in group setting by fostering independence.
- Potentially assist with hygiene needs of students (ie. toileting, transferring, feminine needs, etc.)
- Assist in any other miscellaneous functions as required by building administrator.
- Ability to manage multiple transitions of students and materials between classrooms on a daily basis.
- Flexibility with a changing schedule.
- Assist in the maintenance of equipment and materials used by student.
- Assist with keeping records and files.
- Accompany teacher and/or students on field trips.
- Building assignment may change based on priority of student needs in district.
- Regular attendance is an essential function of the job.
Tests administered:
- Interview process may be required.
Terms of Employment: Number of days, salary or hourly rate of pay and benefits shall be established by the Master Contract and/or the Board of Education.
