Position: Cross Country Coach
Grade Levels: 7–12
Location: Hillsdale Local Schools
Reports to: Athletic Director / Building Principal
Job Summary:
Hillsdale Local School District is seeking a dedicated and motivated individual to serve as the Cross Country Coach for students in grades 7 through 12. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, organizing, and leading the cross country program in a manner that promotes sportsmanship, discipline, and excellence both on and off the course.
Responsibilities:
Develop and implement a comprehensive cross country program for middle and high school students.
Provide effective coaching during practices and meets.
Foster a positive and inclusive team environment.
Teach fundamental and advanced running techniques, conditioning, and race strategies.
Ensure the safety and well-being of student-athletes at all times.
Monitor academic performance and encourage academic excellence.
Organize and manage team schedules, transportation, equipment, and communications.
Comply with all OHSAA, district, and athletic department policies and procedures.
Collaborate with assistant coaches, athletic trainers, and school staff as needed.
Qualifications:
Prior coaching experience preferred, especially in cross country or track and field.
Knowledge of running techniques, training methods, and competition rules.
Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
Ability to inspire student-athletes and model ethical behavior.
Must possess or be able to obtain required coaching certifications (Pupil Activity Permit, CPR, First Aid, Concussion, Sudden Cardiac Arrest training).
