JOB DESCRIPTION
 
TITLE: ATHLETIC TRAINER
 
Job Summary:
Estes Park School District is seeking a passionate and knowledgeable Athletic Trainer to prevent and treat sports-related injuries, rehabilitate athletes, and promote overall health and fitness within our athletics programs.
 
The Athletic Trainer will be available for all practice sessions and home athletic events. Hours are typically from 3:30-5:30p, Monday through Friday on practice days. Some later evening hours and Saturdays are required for home athletic events.
 
Key Responsibilities:

  • Injury Prevention and Recognition - Assess athletes’ conditions, identify potential injury risks, and implement preventative measures like stretching, strengthening, and conditioning programs.
  • Injury Diagnosis and Treatment - Evaluate injuries, provide first aid, and administer various therapeutic treatments, such as massage, heat, or cold therapies.
  • Emergency Care - Provide immediate first aid and emergency medical care for athletes during practices and home games.
  • Return to Play - Coordinate appropriate protocols and communication to determine when athletes are cleared to return to sports.
  • Fitness and Wellness Promotion - Educate athletes on nutrition, hydration, and proper exercise techniques to improve overall health and fitness.
  • Record Keeping - Maintain detailed records of injuries, treatments, and rehabilitation progress.
  • Communication and Collaboration - Work closely with coaches, parents, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to ensure athletes receive comprehensive care.
  • Administrative Tasks - Manage equipment, order supplies, and complete administrative tasks related to athlete care.
 Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Athletic Training or a related field
  • Preferred to have Board of Certification exam pass for Athletic Trainer Certification
  • Continuing Education to meet ongoing education requirements to maintain certification and licensure

EVALUATION:  Performance of this position will be evaluated annually by the Athletic Director
