Description

The Metropolitan School District of Washington Township (MSDWT) is located in the northern section of Indianapolis in the State of Indiana, Marion County. Position: Elementary MTSS Coordinator

Contract Length: 195 days

Contract Type: Temporary grant funded position available through 2029-2030 school year

Salary: Based on teaching experience and starts at $58,184 with 5 years of experience.

 Benefits: Benefits are effective 1st of the month following the first day of employment. 

Receives benefits as a level 3 administrator.

Requirements:  -A minimum of 5 years successful teaching experience

-Knowledge of MTSS frameworks and evidence-based interventions

-Understanding of special education and its intersection with MTSS

-Admin Licensure required

 

Performance Responsibilities

  • Implements the mission, goals, and teaching and learning vision of the district and school

  • Supports implementation of intervention supports and plans

  • Coordinates and facilitates ongoing MTSS professional development, training, and coaching for staff

  • Attends and collaborates in building-based professional learning communities

  • Manages, analyzes, and utilizes student data to support teachers in identifying additional support and/or improve tiered instruction supports 

  • Models data-based decision making through the use of screening, progress monitoring and other forms of data

  • Works with the Elementary Curriculum Coordinator in the selection of curriculum materials; Monitors and supports strong Tier 1 instruction

  • Provide direct student support by working directly with students in intervention groups

  • Model intervention delivery for teachers and staff

  • Facilitate data meetings with families

  • Provides support and leadership: Universal Screening and Progress Monitoring; Ensuring fidelity of screening and progress monitoring tools

  • Manages intervention materials and resources in collaboration with the Elementary Curriculum Coordinator

  • Collaboration with the Elementary Curriculum Department to write grants

  • Monitors and supports implementation of interventions

  • Monitors process of MTSS and PLC to ensure compliance and adherence to district and building expectations

  • Academic and Behavioral Data Manager for the school.

  • Leads the design, implementation, and evaluation of the MSD Washington Township Multi-Tiered Systems of Support plan.

  • Regularly coordinates MTSS meetings with the principal and school teams and analyzes data, including universal screening data, discipline referral data, attendance data, and qualitative state testing information for implementation of tiered intervention.

  • Ensures alignment of MTSS as the overall strategy to meet each school's improvement

plan.

  • Creates, maintains, and updates related district forms as needed using an online access portal.

  • Collaborates and supports school-level instructional leaders, instructional coaches, school counselors, and school social workers with the MTSS process.

  • Provides feedback from schools to inform district policy and programming.

  • Communicate regularly with stakeholders about MTSS implementation, data findings, and student progress.

  • Has a clear understanding and promotes the use of evidence-based practices and interventions to improve student outcomes. 

  • Prepares reports and other essential information for district and school leaders.

  • Completes tasks and other responsibilities as assigned by building and district administration

  • Leads the work of integrating behavior support, student services, and academic expectations.

  • Reports directly to the building principal and works collaboratively with district-level administration to ensure alignment of MTSS initiatives

 

ADDITIONAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Ensures the system is implemented effectively and supports students' academic and behavioral needs through data-driven decision-making and a tiered approach. This includes developing and implementing MTSS plans, providing training for staff, monitoring data, and collaborating with various stakeholders.

  • Develops and manages the master intervention schedule, coordinating staff assignments, student groupings, and resource allocation to maximize intervention effectiveness and minimize instructional disruptions

  • Communicate with identified stakeholders working on Data Teams and Problem-Solving Teams to effectively implement the MTSS model.

  • Provide direct services as follows: Training and ongoing coaching to school leadership teams and teachers on the WTS MTSS framework, working to develop, implement, and sustain the MTSS framework by analyzing and utilizing student and teacher data to guide data-based decision-making and enhance direct instruction.

  • Facilitate communication and collaboration with various departments, including but not limited to: Special Education, Gifted & Talented, High Ability, Curriculum Department, ENL Coordinator, Technology, School Counseling Coordinator, and the Teaching and Learning Directors.

  • Establishes and monitors intervention entrance and exit criteria, ensuring consistent decision-making protocols across all tiers and maintaining fidelity to research-based practices

  • Coordinates with special education team to ensure seamless transitions between MTSS interventions and special education evaluations, maintaining compliance with Child Find obligations and pre-referral documentation requirements

  • Creates comprehensive data analysis reports that track student progress across tiers, identify trends in intervention effectiveness, and provide actionable insights to administrators, teachers, and district leadership for continuous improvement of MTSS programming

  • Oversee the deployment and support for verbal de-escalation and physical restraint.

  • Stay current on MTSS topics through professional development opportunities

  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by building and district leadership

  • Performs other related work as required.
