JOB TITLE: Lead LSSP/Diagnostician (Evaluation Team Lead) WAGE/HOUR STATUS: Exempt
REPORTS TO: Director of Special Education PAY GRADE: A4 ($69,220 - $98,584) / Plus Stipend $2,000
DEPT./SCHOOL: Special Education Department/ MDLC DAYS/DATE(S): 212 (2025-2026 School Year)
Primary Purpose
Position manages, monitors, and facilitates the work responsibilities for departmental and contracted assessment staff. Position supports instructional programs by reviewing reports of team members, mentoring colleagues and supporting professional accountability. Position collects, interprets, and synthesizes information about a student's sensory motor/perceptual functioning, academic achievement, intelligence, social/emotional adjustment, and significant crises that influence academic and behavioral functioning. Position works cooperatively as an interdisciplinary team member to provide services and to devise an appropriate service plan for referred students and their families. Provide input and recommendations to the Director, Assistant Director and Special Education Coordinators on the implementation of policies, procedures, and programming. Position serves on the Department of Special Education Leadership Team, promotes team building amongst assessment staff and positively represents the district and department. Position collaborates with and reports directly to Director of Special Education on caseloads and assignments for assessment staff. Position also assists with legal disputes regarding evaluation.
Qualifications
Education / Certification
- Master's degree from accredited university
- Either Valid licensure as a Licensed Specialist in School Psychology (LSSP) or Valid Texas Teacher Certificate and Valid Texas Educational Diagnostician certification (for Educational Diagnostician)
- Valid driver's license with driving record that meets District requirements

Major Responsibilities and Duties
Policy and Procedures/Dissemination of Information
- Provide input and recommendations to the Director, Assistant Director and Coordinators on the implementation of policies and procedures.
- Participate in strategic planning activities affecting evaluation and procedures.
- Communicate and disseminate information to schools and Evaluation Staff.
- Coordinate with Director, Assistant Director, Coordinator, Compliance Specialist regarding referrals, compliance, evaluations and ARD procedures (including Manifestation Reviews, potential disagreement ARDs, Advocate ARDs, Attorney ARDs)
- Work to maintain a positive and collegial culture within the assessment team
- Maintain confidentiality as a member of the SPED leadership team

Professional Development
- Develop and provide related professional development.
- Report writing, disability identification, evaluation tools
- Job-embedded coaching at the campus level regarding assessment staff-related topics
- Other relevant topics
- Support new assessment staff including reviewing evaluations for new staff.
- Keeps abreast of developments and research and shares with colleagues.
MDLC Office Responsibilities
- Maintain test kit inventory and protocol supply. Order protocols when needed.
- Attend regularly scheduled meetings for DSE Leadership Meetings.
- Coordinate assessment team activities as deemed appropriate by the Director.
- Implement plans to cover for evaluation vacancies (including FMLA leave)
- Provide input on campus assignments
- Assist in staff meetings regarding assessment related topics
- Coordinate monthly assessment staff meetings with Director, Assistant Director and Coordinators.
- Monitors caseload size from school to school to make staffing recommendations to the Director
Additional Responsibilities
- Manage assigned caseload.
- Present problem cases for review.
- Attend critical case ARD meetings as assigned.
- Perform evaluations for critical cases as assigned.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

- Regular district-wide travel to multiple work locations as assigned
