PURPOSE

The purpose of this role is to oversee and coordinate the daily operation of the CTE program. This position will work closely with and report to the District Administrator to ensure the CTE program meets the academic and career development goals. This position will work with DDSD faculty to assist in the development of career pathways to ensure future success of students. The CTE Coordinator will work closely with business and industry partners to establish career based learning opportunities and ensure standards are being met within career pathways.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Facilitate CTE department meetings and DD Tech PLCs 
  • Help monitor DD Tech/CTE enrollment trends, course offerings, and career pathways
  • Participate in administration team meetings to discuss CTE, DD Tech and District topics
  • Oversee all financial planning for the CTE Department, and Transcripted Credit Courses
  • Attend and/or present at DD Tech/CTE stakeholder meetings, BOE meetings, DD Tech/CTE advisory meetings and Gateway Technical College Career Prep meetings as needed 
  • Work with the Director of Teaching & Learning on the PLTW program (grades 5-12)
  • Manage GTC HS articulation and academy agreement and student/teacher registration
  • Responsible for the completion of annual Career & Technical Ed. data reporting
  • Serve on WiRR leadership team and manage College & Career Readiness reporting
  • Responsible for executing and managing Carl Perkins Grant and Act 59 Incentive Grant
  • Oversee Youth Apprenticeship Program, Job Shadow Program and Work Study Program (Internships, Co-op, and Work Release) 
  • Oversee business and industry partnerships
  • Serve on district ACP committee/team
  • Partner with Student Services Department in hosting Career/Job Fair and managing job/career board
  • In collaboration with Student Services, work with DD Tech students, parents, and staff to facilitate ACP that is appropriate to students’ developmental level and career interests. 
  • In collaboration with Student Services, ensure that students meet DD Tech graduation requirements and career/work based learning requirements. 
  • Oversee and execute the Wisconsin Technical Excellence Scholarship (TES) in collaboration with the CTE department and Student Services
  • Confer with parents, teachers, and students whenever necessary.
  • Maintain accurate, complete and correct records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulations. Maintain student and student record confidentiality to the extent possible under the law.
  • Attend Individual Education Plan (IEP) as required or requested.
  • Work cooperatively with all staff, promote interdisciplinary collaboration and be supportive of other building/district programs.
  • Participate and create in-service activities promoted by the district or needed by the CTE department.
  • Follow district and school policies and guidelines, and administrative and contractual rules and regulations. 
  • Strive to maintain and improve professional competence. Stay abreast of issues related to K-12 education, the workforce, and CTE
  • Take all prudent and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities.
  • Work with the Director of Buildings and Grounds regarding equipment maintenance and future needs.
  • Stay abreast of district news through district communication efforts via district website or email.
  • Prepare and provide structured support in times of individual and school-wide crises as they arise.
  • Serve as a positive role model for students and to help instill in students the belief in and practice of ethical principles and democratic values.
  • Perform other duties within the scope of employment and certification as assigned by the District Administrator.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES 

  • Requires a master’s degree in Administration/Career and Technical Education from an accredited college or university; 
  • A broad knowledge of business and industry career pathways. 
  • Strong CTE experience preferred.
  • Must possess the ability to work and communicate effectively with students, parents, colleagues, business/industry representatives and the general public.
  • Strong ability to plan, organize and establish priorities. 
  • Work with diverse ethnic and socioeconomic communities.
  • Carry out responsibilities independently and in a satisfactory manner.
  • Maintain a positive learning environment.  
  • Must demonstrate knowledge of district adopted initiatives, curriculum, and teaching strategies.
  • Experience with computer technology in the performance of duties and responsibilities.

CERTIFICATION 

 

CTE Coordinator must hold a valid Wisconsin DPI License: 5093 - Career & Technical Education Coordinator certification.  Wisconsin DPI Administrator License is preferred, but not required.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Noise level in the work environment is moderate to loud.  Duties are performed indoors and occasionally outdoors.  Duties as assigned may include travel between buildings and a driver’s license may be required for some assignments.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, talk, hear, walk and sit. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally push or lift up to 50 lbs. such as boxes of books, and mobile computer lab carts.  The employee is directly responsible for safety, well-being or work output of other people.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision such as to read handwritten or typed material, and the ability to adjust focus, as well as far vision such as to supervise students.  The position requires the individual to meet multiple demands from several people and interact with the public and other staff. The job will require occasional balancing, stooping and kneeling; bending at the neck and at the waist is frequently required; the use of the fingers and hands to grasp and feel small objects is also frequently required.  The ability to talk, hear and express and understand ideas and thoughts are constantly required. Physical attendance or in-person interaction is required during school days and regular operating hours.
