POSITION: Itinerant Middle School Alternative Learning Center Teacher
LOCATION: Robert Bland Middle School
CERTIFICATION: Must Possess A Valid West Virginia Teaching Certificate, 6-8 and Special Education Certification and Alternative Education Certification. If applicant does not hold the Special Education &/or Alternative Education Certification, he/she must quality and secure certification.
REQUIREMENTS: 1. Experience or knowledge in working with At-Risk students
2. Experience or understanding of de-escalation strategies
JOB DESCRIPTION:
1. Provide Support and PD for staff members when they don't have students
- Collaborate with students' teachers, parents, and other stakeholders to provide comprehensive behavioral supports for ALC students
- Prepare and implement behavioral/social lessons based upon students' individual needs
- Participate in SAT, IEP, and 504 meetings as needed
- Reports to ALC Principal and building principal (as needed)
- Regularly communicate with students' parents/guardians
- Support teachers, students, and parents/guardians during the transition process (both into ALC setting and out to school environment)
- Collaborate with classroom teachers for student and classroom lessons and resources
SALARY: Commensurate with Certification and Experience
TERM: 200-days
REPORTS TO: ALC Principal
AVAILABLE: 2025-2026 School Year
