FSMA’s Special Educaiton Coordinator is a licensed in special education. This staff member will ensure that our caseload of students are served appropriately and that each student’s academic, emotional or behavioral needs are met.
As a Special Educaiton Coordinator, required characteristics include professional attitude and appearance, being highly organized and able to prioritize, an ability to multi-task in a highly visible, fast paced, team oriented environment, and an ability to handle confidential matters and information.
Job Summary:
Job Responsibilities: To work with students, staff and families, proactively and reactively, to support children’s special education needs. Support student academic, social and emotional development and work with classroom teachers to develop plans/strategies for student success in the classroom.
- Review all files and paperwork around IEP's prior to implementation to ensure compliance and completeness.
- Monitor IEP's to ensure data in Infinite Campus system matches individual files.
- Plan and schedule meetings to occur within district, state and federal timelines.
- Conduct meetings in a professional, courteous and compliant manner.
- Ensure minutes forms accurately reflect meeting.
- Ensure confidentiality of student records.
- Communication with all appropriate staff regarding special education services and procedures.
- Conduct regular file reviews using Student Record Review Protocol or equivalent.
- Attend special education leadership meetings at the state level.
- Assists in September 30th unit count, December 1st child counts, local staffing counts and other needs as they arise.
- Participate in MTSS team meetings.
- Facilitates with the psychologist and other staff, the Functional Behavioral Assessment and Behavior Intervention Plan process.
- Consults with teachers, administrators, and IEP teams regarding instructional and behavioral strategies for effective implementation of student IEP's.
- Conducts observations of students and gives feedback to individual teachers and/or and IEP teams.
- Provides classroom support for teachers including modeling of lessons and/or behavioral and instructional techniques.
- Completes informal audits/file reviews to ensure compliance is met and be able to share out information regarding these audits with building administration and the Director of Special Education.
Salary Information:
Full-Time Teacher Salary (based on years and degree level) plus stipend for summer work and administrative responsibilities.
Qualifications:
Must have DE certification in Special Education
