POSITION: SNS Technology Specialist

LOCATION:  Central Office

JOB SUMMARY:

The Dougherty County School System is seeking a SNS Technology Specialist to join our roster of experienced, motivated, and effective professionals. The SNS Technology Specialist supports the effective operation of the School Nutrition Program through the management, maintenance, and enhancement of technology systems, software applications, and data infrastructure. This position provides frontline user support, oversees system security and upgrades, and ensures the accuracy and integrity of nutrition-related data. The role also includes technology training, troubleshooting, and coordination with vendors to optimize functionality across school nutrition operations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. Bachelor’s degree in computer technology, telecommunication, computer science or related field;
  2. Minimum of three years’ experience in technology with a proven successful work record;
  3. Excellent communication and organizational skills;
  4. Knowledge and proficiency in web-based application support;
  5. Working knowledge of various computer hardware and software, including but not limited to Microsoft Word, Excel and USDA approved nutritional analysis software and point of service software;
  6. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Technology Systems Management

  1. Reviews, analyzes, and recommends new and enhanced systems and/or networking capabilities for communication to stakeholders related to the school nutrition program;
  2. Provides day-to-day support for all nutrition software applications;
  3. Performs nutrition software installation, testing, and quality assurance.
  4. Manages vendor support for nutrition equipment replacements and installation projects;
  5. Implements major system upgrades, leads integration projects, and represents SNS on external teams;
  6. Monitors and maintains software and hardware functionality to minimize system downtime at central office and school sites;
  7. Facilitates all software upgrades, updates, and annual rollover;
  8. Maintains data backup routines to ensure data integrity;
 User Support and Training
  1. Trains and supports school nutrition users and school-based employees using the nutrition software suite;
  2. Provides support to applicable systems and networks through training and troubleshooting;
  3. Provides remote support to SNS sites through VNC software and in-house developed applications;
  4. Provides support, including hands-on repairs at the site level of all computer hardware and software;
  5. Performs system administration tasks, including password resets and access to applications;
  6. Manages security, troubleshooting, and correction of any SNS system issues;
  7. Monitors daily student information imports and ensures daily exports to school sites.
Data Management and Reporting
  1. Conducts analysis and creates reports using exports and extracts from Nutrition Information Systems;
  2. Maintains price updates and adds new inventory items in the Horizon system;
  3. Inputs menus in smart temperature software and updates as needed;
  4. Maintains and updates SNS website and Nutrislice menu software;
  5. Handles receiving issues at school level with invoice and stock transfers.
Program Operations and Compliance
  1. Assist with the annual Bid process;
  2. Assist with the CEP certification process as needed;
  3. Participates as part of the leadership team in the development and evaluation of new application enhancements and solutions.
 Customer Service and Professionalism
  1. Demonstrates excellent customer service skills;
  2. Follows work schedule and attendance requirements in a regular, predictable, and punctual manner;
  3. Promotes own professionalism through associations, professional groups, and seminars;
  4. Attendance is required at SNS trainings, seminars, workshops, and leadership meetings;
  5. Supports the Georgia School Nutrition Association by actively being involved and growing district membership engagement in activities.
Other Duties
  1. Daily monitors and maintains smart temperature for connectivity issues;
  2. Maintains current knowledge of the latest technology in computer applications, websites, and social media;
  3. Duties, responsibilities, and activities may change, or new ones may be assigned at any time with a notice by the supervisor.
WORK/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  1. Ability to sit, stand, walk, and drive for extended periods;
  2. Must be able to lift and carry materials such as student files or portable equipment (up to 25 pounds);
  3. Ability to move around school buildings and administrative offices;
  4. Sufficient vision and hearing to communicate effectively, read documents, and work on a computer;

REPORTS TO:  School Nutrition Services Director

SALARY RANGE:  Competitive salary and excellent benefits package, in accordance with the DCSS Compensation Guide
