Description
Position Summary:
To facilitate student success and growth in academic and interpersonal skills through implementing district approved curriculum by creating a flexible, safe and optimal learning environment to prepare students for careers in the construction trades field.
Essential Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Teach construction trades - related courses to grades 10-12
- Develop and administer curriculum consistent with school district goals and objectives
- Promote a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction, and student learning
- Develop lesson plans and instructional materials and translate lesson plans into learning experiences so as to best utilize the available time for instruction
- Conduct ongoing assessments of student learning
- Modify instructional methods to fit individual student's needs, including students with special needs
- Instruct students in the principles of responsible citizenship and other subject matters specified in applicable laws, as well as administrative regulations and procedures of the Cabot School District
- Continue to acquire professional knowledge in the educational field by attending seminars, workshops or professional meetings, or by conducting research Organize and maintain a system for accurate and complete record-keeping, grading, and reporting for all student activities, achievement and attendance as required by district procedures and applicable laws
- Provide feedback to students, parents and administration regarding student progress, expectations, goals, etc.
- Encourage parental involvement in students' education and ensure effective communication with students and parents
- Ensure that student conduct conforms with the school's standards and school district policies
- Coordinate with other professional staff members to evaluate and assess curriculum, and participates in faculty meetings and committees
- Select and requisition appropriate books, instructional aids and other supplies and equipment and maintains inventory records
- Supervise students in activities that take place out of the classroom during the school day, including activities involving school transportation
- Administer standardized tests in accordance with district testing programs Sponsor and manage relevant student organizations within the criminal justice program at CHS
- Adhere to all policies of the District and the Code of Ethics for Arkansas Educators
- Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Principal and other central office administrators, as designated by the Superintendent

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy, as well as differentiated instruction based upon student learning styles
- Knowledge of data analysis and information
- Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students
- Ability to use computer network system and software applications as needed Ability to organize and coordinate work
- Ability to communicate effectively both in verbal and written form
- Ability to organize multiple tasks and conflicting time constraints
- Ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, parents and other stakeholders Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work
Certification/License:
- Required 3 years of construction trades experience
- Bachelor's degree in construction trades or related field preferred
- Must be willing to become a qualified teacher in the State of Arkansas or already hold an educator license
- Successful completion of all background checks
- NCCER, NOCTI, and OSHA10 certifications required (can be earned during first year)
