Position Type: MTSS Student Support Aide (10-Month Position) 
Department: MTSS/Deans’ Office
Location: Deerfield High School 
Reports to: MTSS/Deans’ Office/Assistant Principal
Schedule: 7.5 hrs/day; 181 days per year, plus holiday pay
Starting Pay: $22.00/Hour

SUMMARY:

District 113 is currently seeking a highly motivated individual who enjoys working with students who need interventions in order to access educational attainment and achievement. The paraprofessional will be working alongside the Deans and SEL Instructional Specialist in order to assist with the delivery of engagement and restorative interventions for students who need additional support. The paraprofessional will also be collaborating with the MTSS team and the Deans’ Office to help support students who are receiving interventions related to Alternative to Suspension and in-school detentions.  

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Supervises students in collaboration with the SEL Instructional Specialist and the Deans.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Collaborate with Deans, the SEL Instructional Specialist, and other staff to deliver academic, engagement, and restorative interventions.
  • Support de-escalation efforts by partnering with colleagues during student crises.
  • Engage in professional development pertaining to Restorative Practices and other related areas.
  • Attend weekly team meetings and other necessary collaborative meetings.
  • Contribute to team initiatives aimed at improving student outcomes.
  • Assist team members with tasks that ensure the smooth functioning of District 113 operations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
  • High School Diploma
  • State Paraprofessional Approval (sixty [60] or more college hours or pass Paraprofessional Test)
  • Able to communicate effectively and collaborate closely with members of a team
  • Able to remain calm and regulated in high stress situations
  • Dependability in attendance and punctuality
  • Flexibility to change routines

The ability to work in an office environment, sitting, standing, light lifting, filing, operating office machines, and computers, and communicating with staff and others. Occasional lifting, otherwise non-demanding office activities.

The noise level in the work environment ranges from quiet/moderate to loud. The employee is frequently required to interact with the other staff. The employee is directly responsible for the safety and well-being of students.
