Education/Certifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Valid Texas Teaching Certification
  • Experience in coaching or teacher leadership

Preferred:

  • Master's Degree
  • Minimum 3 years classroom experience

SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:

  • Knowledgeable about curriculum and instruct ion including appropriate strategies, student assessment, and instructional resources
  • Demonstrates strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and Section 504 regulations
  • Knowledge of curriculum, instruction strategies, differentiated instruction, accommodations, and modifications
  • Broad-based training in the Rtl/MTSS process
  • Broad-based training in other effective teaching and learning strategies
  • Experience in teacher training and the delivery of effective professional development
  • Experience in evaluating and analyzing testing data
  • Ability to present information in an interesting and relevant manner
  • Knowledge of the needs of various special populations
  • Evidence of flexibility in thought, actions and time management
  • Demonstrates skills in the following: organizational skills, leadership skills, communication skills, problem-solving, critical thinking, presentations, facilitation, collaboration, research and team building

Experience

  • Required: Minimum of three (3) years of successful teaching experience.
  • Preferred: Documentation of course study, professional development, or successful implementation of social skills, PBIS, or behavior intervention strategies.

 

Function

The Districts MTSS Interventionist demonstrates effectiveness in providing current and innovative evidence-based instructional practices. The purpose is to provide support in academic and behavioral interventions for campus administrators, teachers, and staff who collaborate to help all students succeed.


Reports To:

Coordinator for MTSS/504


Responsibilities:

  • Supports campus in the implementation of recommendations of the Principal and the MTSS/504 Coordinator.
  • Evaluates, selects, develops and/or adapts materials to meet the specific needs of campus.
  • Maintains a professional knowledgeable relationship with campus staff.
  • Accepts other related assignments or duties as assigned by the MTSS/504 Coordinator.
  • Promotes the development of social skills as an integral part of daily instruction.
  • Performs duties in the professional, ethical, and responsible manner as defined in Board Policy and the TEA Code of Ethics for Educators.
  • Serves as a positive role model and works cooperatively with other in the delivery of instructional and behavioral strategies.
  • Performs other job-related duties and assigned by the Coordinator for MTSS/Section 504.
  • Provide collaborative support to the school efforts for MTSS implementation.
  • Articulate the alignment of MTSS with the district's vision, mission, and instructional design.
  • Works closely with school leaders in order to create a common vision for quality curriculum and instruction.
  • Provide support to school in using scientific evidence-based interventions for students.
  • Help plan and implement building level staff development and observe instructional consistency.
  • Participate in and support staff training on tools that collect related data.
  • Outstanding presentation and facilitation skills.
  • Outstanding organization skills with a demonstrated ability to meet deadlines. 
  • Assist with implementation of a cohesive district wide academic success plan to provide intervention, acceleration, and enrichment through summer and Saturday programs.
  • Support marketing and recruiting strategies along with appropriate communication goals and objectives for all summer program sites.
  • Supports all providers with respect to program goals and objectives.
  • Support effective procedures and policies to ensure an effective summer program.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILIES: None

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Ability to manipulate tools/equipment/keyboards.
  • Ability to convey information and/or instruction to internal/external customers through spoken expression.
  • Ability to perform work while standing and/or walking for extended periods, up to eight (8) hours a day.
  • Ability to see detailed information, naturally or with correction.
  • Must have valid Texas driver 's license.
  • Must be available to work a flex schedule (1-2 weeks in summer dates; TBD).
  • Occasional prolonged and irregular hours.
