Maine School Administrative District No. 33 serves students in grades PreK-12 in St. Agatha, ME, home of the Long Lake Fishing Derby, one of the largest fishing derby's in the state!. The district has two (2) schools under one roof, Wisdom Middle/High School and Dr. Levesque Elementary School, a 2018 National Blue Ribbon School. The district is also home to the St. John Valley Technology Center, serving students from MSAD33, MSAD27, and the Madawaska School Department.

Job Goal: We are seeking an Instructor that will motivate student learners to excel and work in the Commercial Driving profession; to help students learn subject matter and skills that will contribute to their becoming successful citizens and lifelong learners.
Legal and Ethical Duties:
- Maintains confidentiality related to all aspects of student performance, written records, and oral communications
- Demonstrates respect for the rights of students, other staff, and parents.
- Follows health and safety procedures established by the District.
- Arrives and departs punctually, and promptly notifies the building secretary/principal when s/he is to be absent.
- Demonstrates loyalty, dependability, and integrity, as well as other ethical standards.
- Develops and implements plans that fulfill the requirements of the District's curriculum and shows written evidence of preparation as required.
- Prepares lessons that reflect accommodations for differences in learning styles in students.
- Presents the subject matter according to guidelines established by the Maine Department of Education, Board policies, and administrative regulations.
- Plans and uses appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of students assigned.
- Conduct assessments which are reflective of student learning styles and uses results to plan instructional activities.
- Attends Pupil Evaluation Team (PET) meetings and works cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed for special education students according to Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
- Works with other members of the staff to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods in accordance with district requirements.
- Plans and supervises purposeful assignments for educational technician(s) and/or volunteers.
- Employs the use of technologies in the teaching/learning process.
- Helps students analyze and improve study methods and habits.
- Assesses the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provides progress reports as required.
- Assumes responsibility for extracurricular activities, whenever feasible. Sponsors outside activities approved by the school.
- Is a positive role model for students and supports the mission of the District.
- Creates a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
- Manages student behavior in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.
- Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Assists in the selection of books, equipment, and other instructional materials.
- Establishes and maintains open lines of communication by conducting conferences with students, parents, principal, and other teachers.
- Maintains a professional relationship with all colleagues, students, parents and community members.
- Uses effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.
- Participates in staff development activities to improve job-related skills.
- Keeps informed about and complies with State, District, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers.
- Compiles, maintains, and files all reports, records, and other documents required by the principal/director.
- Attends and participates in faculty meetings and serves on staff committees.
- Serves as a mentor for student teachers, whenever feasible.
Qualifications:
- Valid State of Maine CDL License
- CDL Instructor credentials
- 5 years professional experience in the field.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution ~or~ a combination of education and paid non-teaching work experience for teachers of vocational education.
- General knowledge of curriculum and instruction.
- Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Post Hire - Required to obtain Career and Technical Education Endorsement 807 - Heavy Equipment Operator
