Eligibility for Florida certification is required. FL certification in Elementary Education (Grades K-6) or Prekindergarten/Primary Education (age 3 through grade 3) is a prerequisite for teaching in field. How to Become FL Certified in Elementary Education (Grades K-6):

1. Out-of-State Certification: If you hold an unexpired, out-of-state, professional educator certificate in this subject area, please apply for Florida reciprocity.
2. Elem Ed Major: Commonly accepted bachelor's (or higher degree) majors for a Florida temporary educator certificate include: Elementary Education 1-6, K-6, N/K-6, K-3, K-4, K-8, K-9, and Upper Elementary 4-6.
3. Other Majors: For other degree majors, passing the FTCE Subject Area Exam in Elementary Education K–6 is required. Visit the testing website http://www.fl.nesinc.com/tests.asp for further details. Locate a test center. Study materials are available for purchase through The Learning Liaisons and 240 Tutoring.

How to become FL certified in Prekindergarten/Primary Education (age 3 through grade 3):

1. Out-of-State Certification: If you hold an unexpired, out-of-state, professional educator certificate in this subject area, please apply for Florida reciprocity.
2. Early Childhood Ed Major: Commonly accepted bachelor's (or higher degree) majors for a Florida temporary educator certificate include: Early Childhood Education if NK-3, NK-4, or Birth-Age 8; P-5, N-6, NK-6, Prekindergarten/Primary Education.
3.
