Position Summary
 
The Director of Multi-Tiered System of Supports, Counseling and Social Work provides district-wide leadership and coordination for academic, social-emotional, and behavioral interventions. This position ensures the effective implementation of a Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS), high-quality school counseling services, and proactive social work practices to support student success. The Director will work collaboratively with school leaders, counselors, social workers, and intervention teams to ensure that all students have equitable access to services that promote achievement, wellness, and positive school climates.
 
Minimum Required Qualifications
 

  • Education/Training:
    • Master's degree in School Administration, Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or a closely related field (Doctorate preferred).
  • Licensure:
    • Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with a general administrative endorsement (preferred), school counseling endorsement, or school social work endorsement.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 5 years of leadership experience in counseling, social work, MTSS coordination, or student services administration.
  • Knowledge, Skills, & Dispositions:
    • Deep knowledge of MTSS frameworks, SEL best practices, counseling models (ASCA), and trauma-informed practices.
    • Proven experience in implementing successful student support and intervention systems.
    • Strong background in data analysis, action planning, and continuous improvement.
    • Demonstrated commitment to equity, inclusivity, and culturally responsive practices.
    • Excellent organizational, leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.
 
Desired Qualifications
Bilingual (Spanish preferred).
 
Key Responsibilities


MTSS Leadership and Coordination
  • Develop, implement, and monitor a district-wide MTSS framework for academics, behavior, attendance, and social-emotional learning (SEL).
  • Provide coaching, technical assistance, and training to school MTSS teams to ensure fidelity of implementation across all schools.
  • Analyze MTSS data regularly (attendance, academic progress, behavioral referrals) to inform interventions and support planning in coordination with Deans, Counselor’s, and Social Workers
  • Lead early warning system initiatives to proactively identify and intervene with at-risk students (Academic Success Triads).
  • Facilitate the monthly district MTSS review meetings and maintain consistent monitoring of intervention effectiveness.
 
Counseling Program Oversight
  • Provide leadership, supervision, and evaluation for all high school counselors.
  • Ensure counseling programs align with the American School Counselor Association (ASCA) National Model.
  • Support development and implementation of comprehensive academic advising, college/career readiness, and postsecondary transition planning.
  • Coordinate district initiatives around FAFSA completion, career pathways, college visits, and scholarship outreach.
  • Lead the continuous improvement of counseling practices, ensuring services are culturally responsive and equity-driven.
 
Social Work and Mental Health Services
  • Supervise and support all school social workers and mental health professionals.
  • Oversee the integration of SEL practices into school environments, aligned with Illinois SEL standards.
  • Ensure crisis response protocols and mental health support systems are effective and consistently applied.
  • Develop and monitor partnerships with community agencies to enhance school-based mental health services and trauma-informed practices.
 
District-wide Systems and Collaboration
  • Build strong working relationships with principals, deans, special education teams, and community partners.
  • Coordinate with student services teams to streamline referral processes, intervention planning, and student/family support services.
  • Provide professional development to school leaders, teachers, and support staff on MTSS, SEL, and trauma-responsive education.
  • Monitor compliance with state and federal regulations related to student support services, SEL, and behavioral interventions.
 
Evaluation and Reporting
  • Create regular reports on student support data trends for district leadership and the Board of Education.
  • Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness, making data-informed recommendations for improvement.
  • Assist in the development and management of budgets related to counseling, social work, and MTSS programming.

Perform other duties as assigned.


Work Environment & Expectations
  • Office and school site visits across the district.
  • Some evening hours required for parent meetings, board meetings, and crisis support.
  • Frequent collaboration with district leadership, building administrators, and external service agencies.

Performance Evaluation/Accountability
Performance will be evaluated in accordance with the Proviso Township High Schools District 209 Board’s policy on personnel evaluations. All evaluations will comply with applicable state and federal laws.

  • Ability to inspect roofs and/or work sites, requiring the use of ladders and working in various environmental conditions (e.g., temperature, noise, air quality).
 
Position Goals
In consultation with the supervisor, the employee will set annual goals, which will be included in the performance evaluation document. In the event of a disagreement regarding the goals, the Superintendent will make the final determination.
 
Compensation & Benefits
  • Salary Range: $133,459 – $180,559 (regionally competitive, based on experience and qualifications)
  • Benefits: As per the position contract.
