Description


South Portland Middle School is seeking a dynamic professional to provide support and leadership and build the capacity of our special education teams with implementation of positive behavioral support plans and understanding of data collection/analysis. Strong collaboration and communication skills required.

The ideal candidate would be a data-driven, student-centered professional that has successful experience working with teachers who support students a wide-range of disabilities in a variety of classroom settings. Key areas of expertise include, but not limited to:

  • Strong foundational understanding of team-centered behavior planning
  • Demonstrated ability to lead implementation of positive behavioral interventions for large group and individual students
  • Deep understanding of and ability to conduct functional behavioral assessments
  • Experience with collecting and analyzing data in order to inform programming
  • Strong understanding of and training in trauma-informed practices and SEL intervention curriculums
  • Experience with students with intellectual and developmental disabilities
  • Knowledge of and experience with support MTSS programming
  • Experience with consulting/training other teachers and teams in best practices
  • Strong knowledge of federal and state special education laws
  • Ability to support Tier 1 PBIS implementation, including whole-staff PD
  • Ability to work and embed into classrooms working with students as needed
  • Ability to support IEP related paperwork as needed
State of Maine Children with Disabilities 282 (K-8) certification required, BCBA certification preferred
