Days/Dates: 187 (2025-2026 School Year)
Primary Purpose:
To provide special or general education students who are confined to the home for a temporary amount of time with instructional services. Deliver instruction, support, and guidance, to meet individual student needs. Collaborate with school staff, parents, and other district professionals. Work with students in a home or community setting as assigned.Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university
Valid Texas teaching certificate in Special Education
Valid Core Subjects, Content, or Generalist teaching certificate preferred
Valid Driver’s License with driving record that meets the requirements of the district
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Ability to work with students of all ages with disabilities
Knowledge pertaining to job training and development
Ability to exercise judgment in handling student behaviors and in assessing student skill level
Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
Ability to communicate effectively
Must have personal transportation and can travel within district boundaries
Knowledge of Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) Committee process and Individual Education Plan (IEP) goal setting process and implementation
Knowledge of the 504 process and 504 Plan implementation
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Provide instruction to students who require Homebound Services per ARD or Section 504 committee.
Plan and use appropriate instructional strategies, activities, materials, and equipment to meet the individual needs of students.
Ensure students have adult supervision during all homebound sessions
Travel within the district with personal vehicle
Collaborate with students, parents, and other members of staff to develop IEP through the ARD Committee process for each student assigned.
Collaborate with teachers, collecting and returning completed assignments.
Review assigned materials with students in preparation for tests.
Collaborate with related/instructional service personnel, when needed.
Implement recommended services/curriculum to the student.
Monitor student progress, update IEP’s, and communicate effectively with campus staff regarding student performance and progress.
Collect data on progress towards IEP goals and implementation of accommodations.
Complete IEP Progress Reports each grading period.
Keep accurate attendance records and report attendance to the attendance clerk each week.
Prepare documentation for ARD and Section 504/Homebound meetings.
Attend ARD and Section 504/General Education Homebound meetings.
Stay informed of the latest medical recommendations of the referring physician and communicate these recommendations to staff.
Continue professional growth by participating in professional development opportunities.
Display proficient levels of technology applications.
Utilize time wisely for effective management of job responsibilities.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Maintain emotional control under stress. Traveling extensively with personal vehicle. Frequent standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, pushing, and pulling. Exposure to biological hazards.
