Description
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:High school diploma or GED
Texas journeyman plumber’s license
Clear and valid Texas driver’s license
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of plumbing repairs, maintenance, and installation techniques
Knowledge of plumbing codes
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, schematics, and written reference material
Ability to perform mathematical calculations
Ability to diagnose and resolve problems
Experience:
Four years plumbing experience
Master Plumber preferred
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Maintenance and Repair
- Assemble, install, maintain, and pressure test all pipes, fittings, and fixtures of heating, water, drainage, sprinkler, and gas systems according to specifications and plumbing codes.
- Detect needed repairs on buildings, grounds, and equipment following established inspection procedures. Determine sources of plumbing malfunctions and complete repairs as indicated or according to work orders.
- Install and repair pipes, fittings, valves, fixtures, and plumbing system equipment including sinks, commodes, and water heaters. Install and repair kitchen equipment such as gas stoves and dishwashers.
- Receive and complete work orders. Select material and hardware and make time and materials estimates. Maintain accurate records on material and labor used.
- Inspect jobs upon completion and ensure areas are clean.
- Work with building principals and supervisors to complete projects.
- Respond to emergency calls as needed.
Safety
- Maintain inventory of district-owned tools, equipment, and materials. Perform preventive maintenance on tools and equipment and ensure that equipment is in safe operating condition.
- Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties including lifting and climbing. Operate tools and equipment according to established safety procedures.
- Correct unsafe conditions in work area and promptly report any conditions that are not immediately correctable to supervisor.
- Motivate team members to meet and exceed all organizational goals, and other duties as assigned.
- Provide professional communication with students, parents, community members, staff, and other professionals at all times.
- Use proper phone etiquette at all times, speaking slowly and clearly. Take reliable messages, and route to the appropriate staff.
- Ensure superior customer care skills are used via eye contact, facial expressions, voice inflections, body language, and an attitude of “going the extra mile” for others.
- Ensure all requests for information are dealt with in an appropriate timeframe.
- Create and maintain a welcoming, service-oriented environment toward all internal and external customers.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
May supervise other plumbers, and promote a continuous effort by all your team members to identify, quantify, and eliminate waste in all the work through continuous process improvement
