TITLE: Special Education Teacher: Case Manager
QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Must be dually certified as a Special Education Teacher and a Secondary Teacher in any content area by the State of Delaware Department of Education.
  2. Minimum 5 years of satisfactory experience teaching in a special education setting.
  3. Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  4. Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  5. Teacher leadership experience preferred.
REPORTS TO: School Principal
JOB GOAL: The Special Education Case Manager is a key figure in ensuring services and supports are in place and provided by the Individualized Education Plan (IEP), and acts as liaison between teachers and parents of students with disabilities by collaboratively providing leadership, coordination and innovation to special education programs and services. 
 
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Develop, implement, and monitor the IEP, which outlines the student's individualized educational goals, accommodations, and modifications.
  2. Coordinate with various stakeholders, including parents, general education teachers, related services, and other providers, to ensure the IEP is effectively implemented.
  3. Gather and use data to establish baselines for measurable goals and objectives and monitor progress in general education settings.
  4. Review progress on goals and objectives throughout each school year and collaborate with teachers, parents, and administrators to adjust support accordingly.
  5. Gather and use data to collaboratively advocate for a child’s least restrictive environment (LRE) and needed supports.
  6. Monitor academic progress in classes and troubleshoot support as needed.
  7. Establish a system to promote open lines of communication with students regarding supports and resources as needed.
  8. Work with school counselors to monitor academic progress, graduation requirements, and credit recovery as needed.
  9. Prepare materials for annual review and re-evaluation planning as directed by the Special Education Coordinator.
  10. Serves as a member of the IEP team who serves the students on the assigned caseload.
  11. Assists with the development and implementation of Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP) when appropriate.
  12. Collaborates with others for the purpose of implementing and maintaining services in accordance with regulatory requirements.
  13. Assists in preparing schedules for special needs students and checks schedules for IEP coordination.
  14. Analyzes data for the purpose of developing and implementing strategies and programs that meet the needs for students.
  15. Other duties as assigned related to special education case management.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary and contract length to be established by the Board of Education
EVALUATION: Performance will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel and Department of Education regulations.
