Position: Licensed 5th-8th Grade PEAK and Enrichment Teacher
School Year: 2025-2026
Location: Basalt Middle School
Reports to: Basalt Middle School Principal
Classification: Certified Exempt - Full-Time (1.0 FTE / 40 hours per week)
Contract Period: 185 working days.
Position Overview:
- The Roaring Fork School District is searching for a creative, innovative, and enthusiastic full-time PEAK and Enrichment teacher for the 2025/2026 school year. This position will begin in August, 2025.
- The Program for Educationally Advanced Kids (PEAK) supports gifted and talented students in grades 5-8 at Basalt Middle School. Enrichment classes are content-area classes offered in addition to Core academic classes, and are typically taken by students not in need of additional support in mathematics and literacy.
- Work with the part time PEAK teacher to administer the PEAK program, which includes but is not limited to:
- Supporting and monitoring the well-being and academic growth of students in the PEAK program and in the talent pool for the program,
- Administering assessments to identify students who could benefit from PEAK programming,
- Conferencing with families to maintain Advanced Learning Plans (ALPs),
- Providing teams and teachers with enrichment resources for differentiation and large group (e.g., whole grade or whole school) activities,
- Other data analysis or reporting associated with the maintenance of the PEAK program.
- Work with the part time PEAK teacher to offer Specials programming to gifted and talented students.
- Teach one daily Science or STEM Enrichment class to a group of 5th and 6th grade students.
- Lead a grade level Crew, working as an advisor for a small group of students, setting students up for success on a daily basis, and maintaining a positive school culture through daily Crew.
- Work on a grade level or Specials team to maintain a positive school culture and support students through our Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) process.
Full benefits included. Candidates must be highly qualified and possess or be eligible to obtain a CDE Certified Teaching License in Science, STEM, or a related content area.
An ideal candidate for this position will have:
- Bachelor's degree (at a minimum) in a STEM or Science field. Masters degree preferred.
- Excellent ability to connect with students and develop strong, positive student-teacher relationships built on mutual trust, respect, and high expectations
- Exceptional organizational and communication skills
- Bilingualism in English and Spanish is beneficial.
Salary Range
- *$54,000 to $82,320 (Based on education and years of relevant teaching experience) *The annual salary listed above is based on a full-time, 8-hour workday (FTE 1) and a full working calendar. For positions with less than a full FTE or reduced hours, such as part-time or late-start positions, the salary will be prorated accordingly. Certified Salary Schedule. Necessary Credentials
- Bachelor degree or higher from an accredited institution in Stem of Science Field
- MUST have an active Colorado Teaching License or the ability to obtain one within 30 days of employment. If additional coursework or a preparation program is required, the applicant must provide proof of enrollment and submission of the required documentation to the Colorado Department of Education (CDE) within 30 days of employment.
- Official transcripts must be provided upon hire. For international transcripts, an evaluation is required through a member organization of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES).
Physical Requirements
- This position requires the ability to move throughout the classroom, stand for extended periods, and occasionally lift materials or equipment up to 25 pounds.
