REPORTS TO: Director of Special Services and Building Principal
QUALIFICATIONS:
? State of Michigan Teacher Certification
? One or more of the following Special Education endorsements: SM (preferred), SE, SA
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILIES:
? Demonstrate the ability to model, deliver, and craft rich student-centered learning experiences
through direct instruction to students on the resource room teacher’s caseload and may assign
grades or other evaluative measures for this instruction.
? Provide direct and consultative support to the general education classroom teachers to whom
special education students on the resource room teacher’s caseload have been assigned.
? Time will be allocated to the resource room teacher to carry out this responsibility. Provide
services/instruction at multiple buildings (as needed).
? Work in partnership with staff through guidance/planning/scheduling for instructional aides
working with caseload students.
? Demonstrate the ability to provide supplemental instruction to students on his or her caseload.
? Understand and be able to be responsible for student I.E.P.s and all Federal mandates as they
apply to a secondary resource room teacher.
? Identify and apply educational and technology-related research, the psychology of learning, and
instructional design principles in guiding use of technology in education.
? Have excellent command of the English language (oral and written).
? Strong organizational skills required. Ability to multi-task.
? Participate in professional development experiences that allow him or her to observe, evaluate,
and apply the use of technology to support instruction. Expert level of technology and 21st
century learning understanding and application.
? Deep knowledge of content standards, effective instructional strategies, and assessment driven
instruction.
? Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Student Services and the
building principal.
SALARY: Per the HFT Teacher Contract
