Job Description
Assists the special education teacher in the performance of their teaching functions by performing varied duties associated with the teaching process; does related work as required.
Roles and Responsibilities
Under supervision, the special education teacher aide relieves school teachers of that part of their duties which while relating to the teaching process can be performed by non-professional personnel. A nominal amount of clerical work is associated with this position; however, qualified typing is not required. Positions requiring excessive clerical work and/or qualified typing are not within this classification. Supervision of other employees is not a responsibility of the class.
Assists in the preparation of instructional materials.
Assists in supervising children in the classroom and during specials.
Works with individual students or groups of students under the direction of the teacher.
Assists teachers in the collection of materials and escorts students to areas outside the classroom as needed.
Assists the teachers in maintaining files and preparing statistical reports.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
