Description
The Winnetka Public Schools District 36 has an opening for a full-time elementary school Math Specialist at Hubbard Woods Elementary School effective August 2025 (1 Year Assignment).
JOB TITLE: MATH SPECIALIST
LOCATION: Hubbard Woods School
CHARACTERISTICS: Full-Time
REPORTS TO: Building Principal & Director of Innovation, Teaching, and Learning
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCITONS:
ADDITIONAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Perform other duties as directed by the Superintendent, Director of Innovation, Learning and Teaching, or Building Principal/Assistant Principal.
EDUCATIONAL PREPARATION/ CERTIFICATES/ QUALIFICATIONS
1. Appropriate Illinois Professional Teaching License with an Elementary endorsement
2. At least 3 years classroom teaching experience required
3. Strong knowledge of mathematics and intervention strategies
4. Able to work collaboratively with classroom, associate, and special education teachers
5. Has participated in professional learning focused on math intervention research and best practices
6. Is flexible and reliable with schedule and time and can work independently
7. Supports progressive education ideals and practices
8. Clearance of FBI Background Check required
9. Physical Exam within last year of hire date
10. Valid First Aid/CPR cards preferred
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Moderate degree of physical stamina with occasional lifting of 10 to 15 pounds and occasional lifting up to 50 pounds required in the physical assistance of students with special needs. Ability to move freely to various locations within the classroom, office and other business and community settings. Frequent standing, walking, sitting, and bending. Frequent repetitive activities including hands, arms, and legs for clerical related work. Exposure to noise and activity of a school setting. Exposure to outdoor weather conditions.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCITONS:
- Planning, Preparation/Assessment Management: Math Specialist will coordinate the math intervention program for his/her assigned building and caseload of students. Will work with the classroom teachers and special education team to identify such students via pre-assessments and other evaluative tools. Will meet with teachers to coordinate a schedule to meet the intervention needs of individual students as well as keep faculty informed of intervention progress.

- Instruction: Exhibit knowledge about current research around math intervention strategies and implement such research into daily practice with students. Support Teacher and Teacher Associate understanding of math assessments, daily work with students, and progress monitoring
- Professional Responsibility: Model professionalism, integrity, confidentiality and personal growth; plan, support, and deliver student math intervention services including methods to differentiate instruction. Attend meetings with special education team and CLT meetings.
- Complete all district compliance trainings as required.
